The WPL 2024 final will be played next Sunday.

The opening week of March presented a series of contrasting outcomes in the Indian sports calendar. In boxing, it was a setback as the majority of the Indian contingent, eight out of nine boxers, were eliminated in the first round. Conversely, there was reason to cheer in table tennis, as both the men’s and women’s teams secured their spots at the upcoming Olympics.

In badminton, Lakshya Sen continued his impressive performance at the French Open, while P.V. Sindhu regained her competitive edge. However, the World Indoor Championships didn’t go as hoped for India’s long and triple jump athletes, who fell short of expectations.

Looking ahead, attention shifts to Lakshya Sen, who aims to solidify his position in the rankings for the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, Nishant Dev carries the hopes of the nation as the sole remaining Indian boxer, eyeing a coveted Olympic berth.
