The star raider was unhappy with his injuries and game-time during the ongoing season.
Young raider Nitin Panwar has replaced Ajay Thakur at Dabang Delhi for Pro Kabaddi League Season 8. As reported earlier by Khel Now, the star raider left the team's camp in Bengaluru due to less playing time. Ajay Thakur left the bio-bubble a week ago and will not be available for the rest of the season.
Dabang Delhi have now confirmed that the player suffered an injury that ended his season earlier than expected. Ajay Thakur’s injury comes as a major blow for Dabang Delhi and might hamper their playoffs aspirations. His absence meant that Dabang Delhi had to look outside the team for other options.
They have now roped in young raider Nitin Pawar. He will join the side from the 1st of February and will give coach Krishan Kumar Hooda an extra option in the raiding department. Dabang Delhi have released a statement stating that Ajay Thakur is unavailable for the rest of the season and Nitin Panwar has replaced him.
“In the ongoing Season 8 of the Pro Kabaddi League, Ajay Thakur has been replaced by Nitin Panwar for the remainder of the league. Ajay Thakur is suffering from an injury and he won’t be available to play for the rest of the season. New player Nitin Panwar will be joining the team from the 1st week of February,” read the statement.
Challenging season for Delhi
Speaking about his departure, Ajay Thakur expressed his unhappiness and said that it’s fortunate for him to leave the camp due to an injury. He stated, "It is unfortunate that I won't be available for the second half of the league due to injury. My best wishes are with the team Dabang Delhi and I'm sure that the team will perform at its best and finish on the top."
Last season’s runners-up started the season in bright fashion and dominated the majority of the first half of the season. However, they’ve taken a big hit ever since Naveen Kumar suffered an injury and have lost four matches.
They currently sit in second spot on the points table, with 43 points to their name in 13 games. Dabang Delhi will take on Gujarat Giants on Saturday.
