PKL 11: Key battles to watch out for in match 26, UP Yoddhas vs Haryana Steelers

Haryana Steelers are coming into this match with two consecutive wins in PKL 11.

Haryana Steelers will face UP Yoddhas in Match 26 of Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 (PKL 11) at GMCB Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad on October 30. Both teams are coming into this match after their recent wins.Haryana Steelers come into this game having come out quite handsomely from the last PKL 11 match. They have shown an all-around good performance with skipper Jaideep having returned to the team. Mohammadreza Shadloui scored 10 points, and valuable 8 points from Shivam Patare went on to depict the potency of the Steelers’ attack.

On the other hand, UP Yoddhas, will travel to Hyderabad having played and won a resounding 35-29 against the Gujarat Giants. It has been a 13-point show by Bharat, and Bhavani Rajput’s nine points added to the raiding force of the PKL 11 game.

Mohammadreza Shadloui vs Bharat Hooda

The PKL 11 match will prove to be the toughest battle. Haryana’s All-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui will battle it out with UP Yoddhas‘ in-form raider Bharat Hooda. Shadloui, the Iranian defender is known for his ability to read the game and make precise tackles.

But he will have his hands full trying to contain the relentless raiding of Bharat Hooda, who has been unstoppable in the Yoddhas’ first four PKL 11 matches and has scored 40 points including 3 Super 10s.

Hooda will be a test for Shadloui as he played left, right, and centre. Iranian, at his best, will look to nullify Hooda with his experience and defending qualities.

This might be the very point of the PKL 11 match. With Hooda on a rollicking spree and the defensive genius Shadloui looking to restrict Hooda’s effectiveness, this would work in favour of Steelers.

Surinder Gill vs Rahul Sethpal

However, another key battle worth a catch would be the one against Surinder Gill of UP Yoddhas and Rahul Sethpal of Haryana Steelers.The bonus point specialist Gill has been one of the players who have done well with the Yoddhas in PKL 11; he has clearly shown the ability to acquire points with his intelligent raids. With his lethal pairing with Bharat Hooda, the Steelers will have to do well to break this team up.

Haryana Steelers’ star defender, Rahul Sethpal, would be the first name to enter the fray. Rahul Sethpal is agile and great in positioning; however, he has to shoulder the responsibility of controlling Gill’s raiding exploits.

The battle between Gill’s bonus point-scoring acumen and Sethpal’s defensive know-how could be the turning point as far as the outcome is concerned. If Sethpal has been able to hold things in check against Gill on the raiding front then it would be a good blow to the Yoddha’s overall raiding strategy, though.

Shivam Patare vs Sumit

Third, key battle will be between Shivam Patare from Haryana Steelers and Sumit from UP Yoddhas. Patare, Steelers’ raider, started the season quite quietly and has only managed to score 8 points so far.

However, he could be a game-changer; his previous PKL seasons were very good. Sumit has been a consistent performer for Yoddhas and contributed in raids as well as in defence. For him, the next game is an important one regarding crucial tackles and support to the raiding unit.

The match between Patare’s raiding skills and Sumit’s all-roundness may prove to be the deciding factor in the match. If Patare can get into his rhythm and work out the defence of the Yoddhas, then it might provide the Steelers with a much-needed boost. On the other hand, if Sumit can tame Patare’s threat, then that will provide more strength to the favourite tag on the side of the Yoddhas.
