PKL 11: We will have to do best to get a spot in playoffs, says UP Yoddhas coach

Jaipur Pink Panthers slipped to the eighth spot in the PKL 11.

The Jaipur Pink Panthers and UP Yoddhas delivered an electrifying match in Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) at the Noida Indoor Stadium, with UP Yoddhas emerging victorious in the final minute, 33-29.

Speaking to the media Jaipur Pink Panthers assistant coach, and player Ankush Rathee followed by UP Yoddhas coach, and captain Sumit Sangwan shared their thoughts on the PKL 11 game.

On UP Yoddhas’ PKL 11 playoff hopes

Bhavani Rajput was the star for UP Yoddhas, scoring 8 points, while Gagan Gowda added 6, and Sumit secured a crucial High 5 to seal the win. This victory was particularly sweet for the UP Yoddhas as they avenged their earlier defeat to the Jaipur Pink Panthers this season in PKL 11.

“Our Noida leg has been pretty good. But we still have 8 matches to go and so we have to do our best in those matches to keep ourselves in the competition, ” said UP Yoddhas coach Jasveer Singh.

On UP Yoddhas taking on Telugu Titans in PKL 11

The game started cautiously, with both teams focused on defence. Jaipur’s Arjun Deshwal and Ankush Rathee gave their side an early lead, but the UP Yoddhas quickly responded. Bhavani Rajput’s multi-point raid and an ALL OUT on Jaipur put the Yoddhas ahead by six points.

However, Jaipur fought back, with Arjun Deshwal inspiring his team to level the scores and take a narrow 20-19 lead at halftime. Yoddhas are going to face Telugu Titans in their next PKL 11 match.

“It’s not just the Telugu Titans match, we have to do well in all the upcoming matches. Our win today will be a huge boost of confidence. Telugu are doing really well even without Pawan Sehrawat, they have beaten a lot of good teams. So we will go complete planning and will try to win that game as well, ” said UP Yoddhas coach.

On Jaipur Pink Panthers facing Telugu Titans in PKL 11

The second half was a tense battle, with the lead changing hands multiple times. The UP Yoddhas managed to keep Jaipur’s raiders in check, with Sumit completing his High 5. Despite Jaipur Pink Panthers‘ late surge and a brilliant tackle, the UP Yoddhas held their nerve to claim another win in PKL 11. Jaipur will go on to face Telugu Titans next in PKL 11.

“Telugu Titans is a good team. They are second in the table right now, but I am sure we will put up a good fight and try to win the match, ” said Jaipur assistant coach.

“All the players on that team, Ashish and Vijay, are really good, so we will plan accordingly and rectify our mistakes, ” added Ankush Rathee.
