U Mumba will look to win another PKL title in the upcoming season.

U Mumba have been one of the most consistent teams in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League. In the previous PKL season, Mumba lost to Patna Pirates in Eliminator 2. Sunil Kumar-led U Mumba had a mixed result last season, where they finished 5th with 12 wins, 8 losses, and 2 ties.

U Mumba‘s defence roared throughout the season with some splendid performances. Any opponent that came against them struggled to score, irrespective of how strong the raiders they had. Under Sunil Kumar’s leadership, the defence flourished with other impressive performances of Sombir, Parvesh Bhainswal, and Rinku.

However, Mumba lacked sharpness in the raiding department. Apart from the debutant Ajit Chouhan, no other raider could make a mark. The team management will be eyeing some raiders in the upcoming auction who can enhance the raiding capabilities. But before the auction, the team will have to retain some players. Here are the few players U Mumba should retain before the season 12 auction.

Ajit Chouhan

Ajit Chouhan, who made his debut last season, became their main raider early in the season. Chouhan scored 185 raid points in 23 matches with a 61% successful rate. He scored 9 super raids and 9 Super-10s to become the best raider for his team. Retaining Chouhan must be a no-brainer for the U Mumba management as they move into the PKL 12 auction.

Sunil Kumar

Sunil Kumar was Mumba’s spine in the PKL 11. His stats might not reflect his importance to the team, but his presence on the court and brain as a captain made U Mumba qualify for the eliminators. If we look at his last season stats, Sunil has scored 54 tackle points with 8 super tackles and 3 High-5s.

Parvesh Bhainswal

Parvesh Bhainswal was also among the strongest defenders in the U Mumba camp last season. Bhainswal’s experience and his combination with captain Sunil Kumar made Mumba’s defence extremely tough to penetrate. He scored 38 tackle points in 23 matches and should be one of the players they retain for the upcoming season.

Lokesh Ghosliya

Last season’s stats will not do justice to Lokesh Ghosliya’s potential. The youngster got a few chances as a substitute, and he did not disappoint. Ghosliya scored 15 tackle points in 11 matches and was able to present his strong skill set. Although he wasn’t the first choice in the last season, his performance might have given the management a lot to think about.

Rohit Raghav

When it comes to retention, how can we forget Rohit Raghav? He started as a substitute player but later became an important part of the team. Raghav scored 68 raid points along with 11 tackle points. Looking at the value he added to the team, he should be one of the players Mumba should retain before going into the auction.

These are the top five players that the franchise should retain. It will be interesting to see who U Mumba retains ahead of the auction.
