PKL 12 schedule disrupted due to Cricket Asia Cup 2025

Vizag to host the opening match of PKL 12.
The schedule of Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) has been announced. The league will kick off with the Southern Derby between Telugu Titans and Tamil Thalaivas on August 29 in Vizag. Four cities have been chosen as hosts for this edition of the league.
After seven years, the league will be held in Vizag, where 28 matches will be played in 14 days. Then the league will move to the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur.
The organisers have scheduled the PKL 12 matches in such a way that they will not coincide with the major games of the Cricket Asia Cup to be held in September 2025.
No PKL matches on September 14 due to IND vs PAK clash

The first break of season 12 will be on September 14 to avoid clashing with the marquee T20 match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup. The next break will be on September 21, when India and Pakistan are likely to clash once again, if they both qualify.
There will be two more breaks on September 24 and 26, where India could face any two of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The last break will take place on September 28, the day chosen for the final clash. India won the previous edition of the Asia Cup, which was held in a 50-over format.
Doubts over the Asia Cup
While the organisers have given breaks due to the Asia Cup 2025, a section on social media raised concerns over India’s participation in the league. Due to the ongoing political tensions with Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Indians refused to play against these two countries, as they were against peaceful sovereignty.
In the World Championship of Legends, the Indian team withdrew their participation from the game against Pakistan to respect the sentiments of the people. Only time can tell what decision the BCCI and the Indian players take regarding the Asia Cup 2025. But the PKL players won’t complain as they will get the much-needed rest.
Chennai and Delhi to host the final two legs
PKL 12 will move to Tamil Nadu, the birthplace of Kabaddi, for the third leg, while the last phase will be played in Delhi. Kabaddi fans are eagerly waiting for the start of PKL 12.
The opening encounter will see the return of Pawan Sehrawat to Tamil Thalaivas. Ironically, Pawan was with the Telugu Titans for the last two years, and it will be a bittersweet moment for Titans fans to see their former captain on the other side.
When will PKL 12 start?
PKL 12 is set to begin on Friday, August 29.

Vizag, Jaipur, Chennai, and Delhi are set to host PKL 12.
Who are the defending champions of PKL?
Haryana Steelers are the defending champions of PKL. They defeated the Patna Pirates to lift their maiden title in Season 11.
