PKL 12: Sunil Kumar criticises Shadloui's mindset after their tackle war

U Mumba beat Gujarat Giants in the second tie-breaker of PKL 12.
U Mumba pulled off an emphatic win in their opening Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) game against the Gujarat Giants after a nail-biting tiebreaker.
The game swung back and forth like a pendulum between the two sides until the two-time champions emerged victorious.
Gujarat Giants will blame and consider themselves unlucky because a single mistake by their captain, Mohammadreza Shadloui, cost them two points. Shadloui entered a wrestling war against Sunil Kumar and ended up throwing the game away.
After the game, the Gujarat Giants captain and head coach, as well as the U Mumba captain and head coach, addressed the media.
Anil Chaprana on the main factor behind winning the game
Anil Chaprana shared his thoughts on the game. He also praised the experience and expertise of his captain, Sunil Kumar.
“The main factor for us is Sunil. We have the best captain in the league. He used his experience to do what was important in the moment, and I had the faith in my players that they would win the game,” he said.

Sunil Kumar’s thoughts on the game
The skipper shared his thoughts on the game and said, “It was our first game, and to draw the game and then win it in the tie breaker was very important for the team and our confidence. We have just won our first game, and there’s a long way to go. Our defense is the same as last season, but we have improved our bench strength. The raiders have supported us, and now it’s onto the next match.”
Tackle against Shadloui
Sunil Kumar also opened up about his match-winning tackle on Mohammadreza Shadloui and said, “I wanted to give him a player, but he wanted more players. This is what experience is called. He didn’t know that the last raid was mine, and I’m not a raider. He forced himself on me and got trapped.”
“If he had taken a point, then maybe I would have gotten caught. He didn’t use his presence of mind and lost the game for his side. Shadloui is a good player, but he lacks experience,” he added.
Mohammadreza Shadloui’s thoughts on the game
Sharing his thoughts on the game, the Iranian powerhouse said, “It’s just the first match, it always happens.
We have made some mistakes, and we will work on them. We have 17 matches left, and we are developing a strong strategy for the next game.
We have young and motivated raiders. I’m sure they will play better in the next game. They didn’t play good, we played badly. We will try to win the next 17 matches,” he concluded.
