The Womenâs Kabaddi World Cup was scheduled to take place in Hyderabad.
The second edition of the Womenâs Kabaddi World Cup has been postponed indefinitely. The event was scheduled to take place at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad from August 3 to 10.
This is the second time the global event has been deferred, after the original schedule was slated to be held in June in Bihar.
Doubts were raised regarding the arrangements for the event, as many questions were unanswered till this week. The list of teams that will be participating in it was unclear. There were no announcements regarding the logo, the trophy to be presented to the winner.

Why is the Womenâs Kabaddi World Cup 2025 postponed?

Fans on social media were questioning the broadcasting options for them to follow the World Cup, and the organisers were tight-lipped about the same. Now, they have given a statement that the World Cup has been delayed indefinitely due to ânon-timely submissions of team contingent administrative details.â
Few pointed out that it was the delay in the announcement of the Bangladesh team for the World Cup, which was announced just an hour before the postponement news broke out.
As hosts for the event, the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) gave a written confirmation to the International Kabaddi Federation regarding the challenges that led to the postponement.
The letter addressed the delays in submission of the teams, which has an effect on the administrative clearances for players to travel and participate in the event. The organisers have also confirmed that there will not be any changes in the teams taking part in the event.
14 teams were scheduled to take part in the marquee event
Argentina, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, the Netherlands, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda, Zanzibar, Poland, and India are the 14 countries that qualified for the second edition of the World Cup.
When will the Womenâs Kabaddi World Cup be played?
With the Pro Kabaddi League set to start from the 29th of August, the World Cup will likely happen after the completion of the league.
India had started their preparations for the World Cup on July 15th at a camp in the Sports Authority of India facility at Sonepat. Srinivas Reddy and Rambhir Singh Khokhar were appointed as observers for the camp, which was planned till the end of this month.
