Bihar govt allocates big budget for Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025

This is the second time Bihar will host the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup.
The Bihar government has approved a budget of ₹8.25 crore for organizing the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025, set to take place in Rajgir from March 7 to 12. This will mark Bihar’s second time hosting the prestigious event, following its successful debut in 2012. The tournament will be held at the Rajgir Sports Academy, a state-of-the-art venue equipped with an indoor stadium that can seat 5,000 spectators.
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS-Cabinet Secretariat) S Siddharth announced the decision after a cabinet meeting on Tuesday. He confirmed that the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 would see participation from 14 nations.
The championship will bring together teams from eight Asian countries – such as India, China, Japan, South Korea, and Nepal—alongside six teams from Europe, Africa, and South America.
“For the first time in Bihar, the Women’s World Cup Kabaddi Championship will be held from March 7 to 12 at Bihar State Sports Academy in Rajgir. The cabinet approved Rs 8, 25, 72,729 for the event,” said S Siddharth.
Ravindran Sankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA), had earlier highlighted the extensive preparations underway for the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup. He stated that the visiting teams and their support staff would be accommodated within the academy premises, ensuring a seamless experience for the participants.
“The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup will be organized in March 2025. Teams from 14 countries will participate. Eight Asian countries and the remaining six countries from Europe, South Africa, South America, and Poland will also participate in it. After discussing this, it has been decided that this event will be organized in the indoor hall of Rajgir Sports Academy,” said Sankaran earlier.
The last time Bihar hosted the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup was in 2012 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna. That edition featured 16 teams, including those from the United States, Mexico, Japan, and Italy. India emerged victorious after a thrilling final against Iran, setting a benchmark for international kabaddi competitions.
With Rajgir now set to welcome the global kabaddi fraternity once again, the Bihar government’s investment in the event highlights its commitment to promoting the sport and boosting the state’s reputation as a hub for international sporting events.
