Twitter goes berserk as India defeat Thailand in AFC Asian Cup 2019

The Blue Tigers registered their first win in the tournament after 55 years.

It was a historic night for Indian football fans all around the globe, as the Blue Tigers hammered Thailand 1-4 in their Asian Cup opener. it was a result which most of the supporters didn't think of at the start of the encounter.

Following the win, Twitter erupted big time as the Indians registered their first win in the tournament after 54 long years, which also happens to be their biggest win ever in the history of the tournament. It was indeed a great night for Stephen Constantine and his Blue Tigers, who definitely justified their nickname and fought till the final whistle.

Talisman Sunil Chhetri scored a brace for India and set up play on the third. Anirudh Thapa scored his first goal in India colours and even the out-of-form Jeje Lalpekhlua scored a stunner after coming on from the bench. Pronay Halder, Subhasish Bose, Ashique Kuruniyan were also very instrumental in their different roles on the night and it was an exceptional second half performance from the Indian side to kick-start their campaign on a high.

Twitter exploded with delight from Indian fans and even some of the Thais showed the courtesy to congratulate Chhetri and his men for their exceptional display. From hardcore Indian football fans to celebrities, from journalists to sportspersons, all of India came together to congratulate the Indian football team on this historic occasion.

Constantine's Blue Tigers will play their next game against hosts UAE on 10th January followed by their last group fixture against Bahrain on 14th.
