East Bengal finds injured Caribbean defender Carlyle Mitchell's replacement
The Brazilian defender has plied his trade for FC Pune City and Mohun Bagan A.C. last season and will don the Red and Gold colours now.
Kolkata giants East Bengal have roped in central defender Eduardo Ferreira for the upcoming I-League season. The Brazil-born professional, who had represented Equatorial Guinea in international football, is expected to arrive in the city on Sunday night to complete his medical.
With the capture of Eduardo, the club has now signed their sixth foreigner after Willis Plaza, Bazzou Armand, Mahmoud Al Amna, Yusa Katsumi and Charles de Souza.
Carlyle Mitchell, who suffered a hamstring tear two weeks back in training, was released by East Bengal on Friday after mutual understanding and the club wasted no time in signing Eduardo within the next few hours.

Eduardo was more than decent for both Bagan and FC Pune City last season as he partnered well with Anas Edathodika at Bagan. After his stint with the Mariners was over, Eduardo returned to his native Rio De Janiero and played the local Rio league from August to September.
Eduardo Ferreira: Getting back in shape for I-league 2017-18

The likes of Oftense Nato and Victor Kamhuka were discussed extensively alongside Ferreira, but Khalid Jamil and co. decided to go with the experience of Eduardo.
On the other hand, it will be a long time since East Bengal will start I-League completing their quota of foreigners and Eduardo will get almost a fortnight to get accustomed to the conditions and make himself ready before the I-League 2017-18 season kicks-off.
