Aguero's the ruler, Rooney disappoints as EPL GW V is completed. Here's what we learnt.

After a demolishing display from English teams in the midweek, everybody expected them to run amok over the weekend, but except some scintillating performances, many of the fans were disappointed. There has been a goal drought within the land of roses, except for the fans of Manchester. A total of 5 games were drawn, including the much-talked-about match of Chelsea and Arsenal.

The clubs from London were certainly disappointed by their respective results. Tottenham Hotspur could not net the ball in even after hitting the post several times. Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Southampton fought well for their 3 points to progress up the league, especially Bournemouth. We at Khel Now bring you the 5 defining points and the team of the week.

Manchester clubs are the teams to beat

Can the Manchester clubs be more identical? They are tied at the first position with only the alphabetical order parting their ways. As of now, they both have won 4, drew 1 and maintain a goal difference of 14 in their tally. Many would debate that it is the return of quality Guardiola-Mourinho rivalry that we all witnessed in Spain a few years ago.

Manchester City and Manchester United ran amok, scoring as many as 10 goals, that compiles to half of the total game week goals. City were on a trip to Watford where they humiliated the hosts with 6 goals, under the leadership of Argentine Sergio Aguero, who scored three and assisted another.

Elsewhere, at home, United played Everton and thrashed them with 4 goals to nil. Stand-up captain Antonio Valencia, scored a perfect volley within 4 minutes from kickoff. They now have kept the maximum number of clean sheets.

It is highly considered that the trophy may come to Manchester, Red or Blue, that does not matter.

Newcastle steadily setting their pace

After losing the first match, Newcastle United are steadily picking up their pace and proving the world why they deserve to be in the top flight. After spending a season in the Championship, Newcastle United are back in the top flight to take on the whos-who of English football.

Rafa Benitez, with his trademark counter-attacking football, is producing result week-in-week-out. Newcastle players against Stoke City were defensively sound and attacking-ly smart in creating chances and taking shots when most lethal.

Jamaal Lascelles scored the winner for the second straight match as the toons got past Stoke. He scored from yet another corner to build the moment for his team.

Not a nice homecoming to remember for Wazza

Wayne Rooney would have visualized himself scoring for Everton on his return to Old Trafford. The United faithful greeted him with their open arms and were delighted to sing his chants from his Red Devils days, reminding him of his service. Wazza, to the time he was substituted, was seen shouting and howling to his Everton teammates for their lack of efforts.

His homecoming would have been iconic if he had put the ball past David De Gea in the one-on-one situation in the 6-yard box. Romelu Lukaku certainly stole the show with his controversial celebration towards his former clubs fans, having no mercy towards all their support and love they had given him during his stay for the Toffees.

Rooney and Lukaku are ironically the leading Premier League goalscorers of Manchester United and Everton respectively and they graced the pitch in opposite colours.

Liverpool look rusty after City battering

This time last week, City produced another 5 goal-a-match performance against none other than Liverpool. The Reds, since then, really seem to be in a shock, drawing 2 games after dominating the play whole time.

They faced their old rivals Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League midweek, drawing against them with poor attacking instinct. Walking in the EPL, they hosted Burnley and drew with a disastrous defensive display. The silver lining was the featuring of Coutinho yet again as a Liverpool player after the controversial saga of his transfer requests.

Conte held by 3-4-3 he brought to PL

When Arsenal lost to Chelsea this February, Arsene Wenger understood that the only way to stop Antonio Conte is to beat him in his own game. So when they faced each other in the FA cup final, Wenger knew what to do. He started the game with 3 at the back and bombarding the midfield area with composed players. The Gooners won the game and the Cup.

Since then, Wenger has not lost to Conte and he would be delighted with that. Both teams started the game with identical positions and like-to-like players. After 90 minutes of rough football, both of them failed to score. Aaron Ramsey came on top of the crowd with his vision play and chance creation, and had it not been for the goal post, he would have put Arsenal in the driving seat in the first half itself.
