Victorino shines in Sporting Goa’s win over Panjim Footballers
The Skipper scored the hattrick for the Flaming Orange.
Sporting Clube de Goa registered an easy 4-0 win over Panjim Footballers, in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today. With this win, Sporting managed to retain their second spot with 19 points from nine matches, while Panjim has just four points from seven encounters.
Panjim who were yet to register a win in the league had the best chance to stun the defending champions in the 13th minute when their winger Daryl Costa brilliantly snatched the ball from Sporting defender Suresh Thapa just outside the box, but failed to take control on the ball in the box where defender Clement Joseph made a timely clearance at the cost of corner.
However, Sporting managed to take the lead in the 19th minutes when Panjim keeper Sherwin Da Cunha made a mistake to collect easy clearance from his teammate as well-positioned Sporting forward Victorino Fernandes took advantage of the situation and slotted the ball home from inside the box.
Cajetan Fernandes doubled the lead for the Flaming Orange in the 28th minutes when he collected a long throw-in from his teammate Clive Miranda and smartly shot past keeper Sherwin from 6-yards to make it 2-0 for his side.
They added another to their tally in the added time as this time Victorino scored his second goal of the match when Egyptian midfielder Fady Riad made an excellent through pass to the striker who made no mistake from close to beat the Panjim keeper from his last touch making it 3-0 for the Flaming Orange at the halftime.

Like in the first half, Panjim once again started on a taking note and quickly marched on the opponents just after the changing the ends as Alston Camatio made a darting run on the wing and went for the glory from just outside the box but his powerful strike missed the target by a whisker.
A few minutes later, Panjim once again raided on the rivals as this time Vallmiky Miranda found Daryl Costa with a through pass who made a superb run on the flank but his shot was easily collected by Sporting keeper Melroy Fernandes.
Panjim had another opportunity to reduce their margin in the 63rd minutes as Alston sent a cross to Cyril Dias in the box but the substitute strike saw his powerful strike denied by keeper Melroy with a diving effort.

Sporting coach brought in Alesh Sawant in the last quarter and the winger made two superb through passes to skipper Victorino in the box but first, his shot rebound off the crossbar, while another was pushed for a corner by Panjim shot-stopper.
