Carles Cuadrat delighted with result, Josep Gombau rues missed chances
The South Indian outfit took advantage of the misfiring away outfit with a late winner.
Bengaluru FC sealed their fifth consecutive victory of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 with a 1-0 win over Delhi Dynamos FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Monday. A 20-yard strike from Udanta Singh on the 87th minute was enough to take the Blues to the top of the table, while Delhi remained rooted to the bottom with no wins this season. The match also marked Bengaluru captain Sunil Chhetri’s 150th appearance for the club.

At the post-match press conference, head coach of Bengaluru, Carles Cuadrat addressed questions from the media. The Spaniard was delighted with the result, considering the number of key players missing from the squad. "We have been using more or less the same team throughout the season because we were getting results. So, when you lose three players who have been participating a lot like Erik Paartalu, Miku and Dimas Delgado, you have to readjust everything. Of course, you cannot demand the same level of football because it is different. But the guys were giving their best to get the points and we can be very happy because of the result," he declared.
When asked if he will look to add more players in the January transfer window due to the injuries, Cuadrat said, "I hope it is not the kind of injuries where you lose the player for a long time. We are not working with that thought. It was just an unfortunate moment in the season when Dimas got a red card and Erik and Miku got injured. I hope we don’t need to sign any players."

The Spaniard also had some warm words for Chencho Gyeltshen, who has put in a decent shift in the absence of Miku. "He is a young player who is trying to help us. He has very good qualities for the counter-attack game. But that is not normally the type of game that we practice. He’s trying to get better in the ball possession game. I am very happy that he is growing up as a player. He has to keep working like this,” he stated.
[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]From Delhi’s end, head coach Josep Gombau was present at the post-match conference to share his views on the encounter. The Spaniard cut a disappointed figure, expressing his concerns over his side’s inability to convert the numerous chances they had created. "From the very beginning, we had the same problem. We are one of the teams that have created the most number of chances in the league. Because we are at the bottom, someone will think that we are crazy when we say that we are playing good football," he opined.
"If I’m being honest, we should have led by two or three goals at half-time. Football is this. You can create a lot of chances, but if you miss and they score, the game is finished," he added.
