Written by: Khel Now
The Islanders' domestic contingent was once again key to another home success.
Mumbai comfortably cruised through thanks to goals from starlet Raynier Fernandes and Modou Sougou to successfully punch a few more holes in Chennaiyin's sinking ship.

Watch: Mumbai City FC 2-0 Chennaiyin FC highlights
Amrinder Singh - 7.0
Amrinder wasn't called much into action, but when he was, he was alert and up to the mark. The 25-year-old keeper made a fine goal-line save to deny Raphael Augusto and prevent Chennaiyin from equalizing.
Raynier Fernandes – 8.5
Raynier Fernandes was rewarded with a place in the starting linep after a fine display against Delhi Dynamos in a game that saw him score his first goal of the season. The midfielder didn't disappoint his coach, scoring yet another to give his side an early lead.
Subhasish Bose - 7.5
Subhasish Bose was excellent again in defence, but the playing style of Mumbai City has hindered his attacking abilities. The Mumbai coach doesn't seem to want his full-backs to contribute in attack. Subhasish wasn't allowed to make any overlapping runs.
Sehnaj Singh - 7.5
Sehnaj Singh showed great vision on the field, putting in good long-balls for his forwards, particularly Arnold Issoko. The midfielder's vision seems to be the new weapon in his arsenal that also has sternness and strength. Sehnaj is one of the most developed players of the season for Mumbai
Joyner Lourenco - 7.0
Joyner allowed his centre-back partner Lucian Goian to go forward and cause damage. The former Sporting Goa defender was asked to mark Carlos Salom and he did a decent job.
Souvik Chakrabarti -6.5
Souvik was clumsy and lost one-on-one battles with Issac. The right-back who scored an own-goal in the previous game wasn't convincing at all.
Sanju Pradhan - 6.0
Sanju Pradhan replaced the injured Raynier and provided strength, needed to block any potential attacking threat from Chennaiyin.
Pranjal Bhumij - NA
The youngster came on very late to be rated.
Sanjiban Ghosh – 5.0
Sanjiban Ghosh was clumsy again, and it looks like he hasn't recovered after the ATK mauling at home. The 27-year-old keeper wasn't at his best and didn't manage to pick his game up, letting the home side score two past him, one of which he should have stopped.
It looks like the goalkeeper is going through a lean patch of form and needs some time off the field.
Thoi Singh – 5.5
After being the best on the field against ATK, the game of Thoi dropped drastically, both in terms of gameplay and in terms of his finishing. The midfielder had one clear chance to score but saw his shot go high and wide from the goal. The games coming thick and fast doesn't seem to help the midfielder.
Isaac Vanmalsawma –7.0
After having a good game against ATK, Issac was great against Mumbai City as well. The midfielder seems to be the only one who wasn't tired or had any drop in the intensity and work rate after the ATK game. The midfielder won his almost every duel against the duo of Souvik and Goian and gave them a run for their money.
Anirudh Thapa – 7.0
Anirudh was electric in the previous game and hence was given a place in the starting line-up. But the midfielder was wasteful too many times, giving side-passes and back-passes. He was overshadowed by the goal-scorer Raynier Fernandes. Thapa has a bright future ahead given that he finds a better team, maybe as soon as this January.
Tondonba Singh - 6.5
Tondonba Singh kept the giant of Arnold Issoko silent for most parts of the game. The left-back was seen glued with the goal-scoring Arnold and didn't let him have a shot on the target. The left-back has an incredible 12 clearances to his name from the game, denying Mumbai City any chance to break through his flank.
Laldinliana Renthlei - 6.0
The right-back was given a tough time by the troika of Paulo Machado, Modou Sougou and Rafael Bastos. Bastos had a terrific game, outwitting Laldinliana in many duels and combining well with Machado in the space left between Renthlei and Alves.
Francisco Fernandes - NA
Although the midfielder spent almost 25 minutes in the game, he didn't have to do much as the game was already put to bed by Mumbai City FC, who were keen to see the last few minutes without having any injury before an important away game at Sree Kaanterava Stadium against Bengaluru FC.
