The Red Devils legend was part of Ryan Giggs's backroom staff in 2014 for four games.

Paul Scholes will be the manager of the League Two side Oldham Athletic for the remainder of the season. As reported by Sky, Paul will be revealed in an official press conference on Monday afternoon. The Manchester United legend also has a minority stake in Salford City who compete in the National League and are in contention of promotion to League Two.

There were round of talks regarding the 10% ownership of Scholes in Salford City with the EFL board later not deeming it as a conflict of interest, given that no trade is to be done with the club.

The only restriction is he will not be allowed to sign or sell players to Salford at any cost.

The 44-year-old had previously expressed his desire to challenge himself in management.

He said, “I’m ready again to try to achieve something. It might be a massive failure, if something happens. I don’t know. I just don’t know. But I want that sense of feeling again on a Saturday afternoon to have something to achieve."

"Tuesday and Wednesday nights, there’s games on; and you’re watching the results come in on a Saturday afternoon. You think, you want to be involved in that. Whatever level it is, you want to fight for something. It’s just the frustration of not being involved," he added.

He continued, “Saturday afternoon is the hardest. I can go out and watch games but I’m constantly on my phone looking at results, 'What score is this? What score is that.' I want that feeling back again of working towards something through the week, working towards Saturday, through to the end of the season."

Scholes also insisted that he misses the adrenaline that comes up with the folklore of being primarily connected with the game.

"I’ve got to a point now where if something does come up, I don’t want to be sat at home wondering about it. I want to give it a go and see what happens," Scholes quipped not so long ago.

His boyhood club's academy head coach Pete Wild has been in caretaker charge at the Latics since Frankie Bunn was relieved of his duty on 27 December.
