The highest paid managers from Europe's top five leagues
Surprisingly, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is not the highest paid manager on the continent.
Football is a lucrative sport and definitely made people astoundingly rich. But the people who have been on the receiving end of those benefits are majorly the players. Those like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar etc are the leading earners of their respective leagues. The managers have started to get a respectable fee since the last decade.
These coaches are the best in the business and are arguably the leaders of the best ships of their respective leagues.
5. Thomas Tuchel- Paris St. Germain
The former Borussia Dortmund gaffer joined Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2018 and has been doing a tremendous job. They are leading the table with 56 points and have played two games less than the second-placed Lille. Tuchel is earning €420,000 before tax monthly. Currently, he is in a dilemma of team selection as his star players like Marco Veratti and Neymar are out injured.
They face Manchester United in the mid-week in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixture.
4. Niko Kovac- Bayern Munich
The Croatian manager had large boots to fill in at Bayern Munich. His predecessor was Jupp Heynckes and he arrived with much expectations. 20 game weeks down the line and Bayern Munich find themselves at the third position behind Dortmund and Monchengladbach, something they are not used to having won the title for six straight previous seasons.
Niko is earning €580,000 per month before the German taxes. He faces a stiff challenge now with only 14 game weeks left and being seven points behind Dortmund on the top.
3. Max Allegri- Juventus
The Juventus gaffer is probably the unluckiest manager in Europe. The Italian have 10 trophies to his name since arriving at Old Lady in 2014. Four Serie A, four Copa Italias' and two SuperCoppa Italiana make the list including the completion of the domestic treble in 2015-16.
He took Juventus to two UEFA Champions League finals, only to be knocked out in the finals both the times. First, from the hands of Barcelona in 2014-15 and second because of Real Madrid in 2016-17. The manager is €1,140,000 a month before every tax and as far as the accolades are concerned, he is justifying the remuneration.
2. Pep Guardiola- Manchester City
Arguably, he has been the best manager in World Football since 2009. But lately, on terms of silverware, he has slowed down a bit. The first season with Manchester City was his first-ever trophy-less season. Although the following year after that, he proved the world his mettle after heroically winning the Premier League against all odds.
City became the first team to amass 100 points in a single season and to score 100+ goals. The Spanish boss is getting a pre-tax amount of €1,900,000 a month and is truly worth it.
