Gilbert Oliveira scored a brace for the Curchorem team as they sealed the three points.
Guardian Angel Sports Club came from behind to beat Velsao Sports & Cultural Club 2-1 in the Goa Professional League match played at Rosary Ground, Navelim, on Thursday. Gilbert Oliveira scored a brace for the Curchorem team while Ronaldo Coelho scored for Velsao. The match began in a balanced manner as both sides play was restricted to midfield in the initial stages of the game. However, it was Velsao SCC who took the lead in the ninth minute after Guardian Angel keeper Pratheesh Veettil failed to deal with a Velsao’s goal bound attempt and pushed the ball into Ronaldo Coelho’s path, who made no mistake to score in the 9th minute. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Down by a goal, Guardian Angel SC played attacking football and showed intent to score as they threw men forward. But their efforts and chances couldn’t be converted. Guardian Angel’s Yakubu Mohammed almost scored the equalising goal but it was ruled offside by the assistant referee. The Ghanaian missed couple of more chances to restore parity as he saw his efforts sail over the bar while the other was cleanly collected by the keeper. Velsao at the other end, played constructive football and managed to keep the lead until the first half additional time. With a free-kick being awarded, Guardian Angel SC’s Gilbert Oliveira slammed a perfect free-kick to draw level just before the breather. This came out as a blow for Velsao SCC. They both had their chances, but poor finishing saw them squander their opportunities to take the lead. However, in the 53rd minute, Guardian Angel’s Yakubu Mohammed on entering the rival territory played a pass to Gilbert, whose shot gave no chance for the rival keeper as Guardian Angel SC took two goals lead. Earlier, Velsao SCC’s defender Allen Fernandes came with a goal line save to deny Beneston from scoring.Latest News
