A very entertaining match that ended in a fair result. Neither team deserved to lose. The game had everything with both team scoring an equaliser at one point of time. It looked as if United had the 3 points in hand after Goa went down to 10 men but Manvir had other ideas, equalising with the last action of the game. Both sides showed great character during the game and it looks like it's going to be hard to win against NorthEast here in Guwahati. HALF TIME Analysis: FC Goa started off all guns blazing and created chances for fun in the first 30 minutes and deservedly took the lead. NorthEast United replied strongly though as they had two very good chances to equalise. It has been United who are doing all the attacking after conceding. Robert Jarni says he has a plan to stop FC Goa
Robert Jarni is also unmoved by the prospect of facing off against FC Goa’s electric wingers and has a plan to contend their threat.
“I’ve played against strong teams with fast players in the past. But there’s always a plan to counter that. We have to be mentally strong and we have to concentrate 100% for the 90 minutes. We also have to be smart in the pitch to make things difficult for them,” he explained.
Sergio Lobera revealed he is very happy with the domestic players in his squad
“I think it’s very important for us to involve a lot of Indian players in our team. I’m very happy with my Indian players. I think they’ve improved a lot and this is the first season I’m going with so many Indian stars. I think they’re not only the future, but the present. I feel the level of the Indian players is very good and I’m very proud of my squad,” the tactician quipped.
“It’s important for the foreigners to help improve the level of Indian players. But the future and the present is necessary for the development of Indian players. I’m very happy with the level of the Indian players. But we must show everyone that we have a strong team and prove the quality of our players,” Sergio Lobera exclaimed.
