The Foxes are currently sitting on the third position in the Premier League points table.
Despite a heart-wrenching 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, Leicester City’s manager Brendan Rodgers is confident that his team will bounce back in the upcoming games. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] The Foxes will face Frank Lampard’s Chelsea at home in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday. Chelsea is currently sitting on the fourth position with 40 points and they will look to decrease the gap in the points table. Aston Villa started the match on a high note as Matt Targett scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute. Leicester fought back in the second half with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the equalizer but the hosts didn’t lose hope and Trezeguet scored the winner in the injury time to send Villa into their first showpiece final since the FA Cup in 2015. It was a heartbreak for Leicester fans and Rodgers admitted to being 'hugely disappointed' by the result, however, he also challenged his players to use that last-gasp heartbreak in a positive fashion as the foxes look to enjoy a successful end to the campaign. [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] “I’m proud of the team, coming into a game like this, of this pressure, for playing with that composure. We created enough opportunities to win the tie over both legs, but it wasn’t to be.” Brendan Rogers said to LCFC TV. “It looked like the momentum was with us. Unfortunately, just right at the end, we just switched off on our cross, and the guy finishes it at the back post so it's hugely disappointing. The scoreboard tells us that they go through, so congratulations to Aston Villa and good luck to them in the final.” Leicester has been going through a rough patch in the Premier League in recent times as the team has lost two of their last three matches. The same scrappiness reflected in their match against Villa as well. [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News|ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] Brendan Rodgers said, “The disappointment tonight will increase the mentality of the team, the want to succeed. When you’re within touching distance of a final, then it’s something that will drive you on. The players will be disappointed tonight, it’ll hurt in the morning, but they’ll recover.” "Then we’ve got a fantastic game at the weekend. They’ll have a good break, come back, and then get ready for the final part of the season.” Villa’s thrilling win against Leicester means Dean Smith's side will be in their first EFL Cup final since 2010 when they lost to Manchester United.Latest News
