Mizoram Police came close to equalizing but the goal was denied by the referee for an offside.

Last season's treble winners Chhinga Veng FC are yet to taste defeat this season as they overcame a valiant challenge from Mizoram Police FC for the second time on Friday night.

Goals from Lalmuansanga and Lalrinchhana were enough to ensure a second victory for CVFC in the LG Independence Cup.

Both teams played to their strengths in AR Lammual, which resulted in a brilliant display of attacking football. Chhinga Veng FC threatened first through Lalthlamuana as he forced a save from the Mizoram Police FC goalkeeper Muanawma. Lalbiakhlua also tested Zothamawia at the other end with a brilliant chance.

CVFC struck first on the 18th minute when Lalmuansanga was on hand to finish off a ball from MS Dawngliana.

Mizoram Police thought they had an equaliser when V. Laltanpuia's strike was ruled offside. But they did level the score right before halftime through a penalty from former Chhinga Veng FC star R. Malsawmtluanga.

The second half was all about finding the winner as both teams introduced their attacking reinforcements from the bench. Lalromawia came close for Chhinga Veng FC and Lalremruata found the back of the net but his goal was not given due to a foul by MS Dawngliana.

Former CVFC striker Malsawmfela almost gave his new side the winner late on but it was his former side who eventually found the net as Lalrinchhana struck a beautiful goal on the 87th minute.

Chhinga Veng FC's next fixture will be against Jamshedpur FC with Mizoram Police FC facing the same opponents on Thursday evening.

Jamshedpur FC reserves needed a late goal from Rakesh Yadav to earn them a point as they drew 2-2 with ADFA First Division team Kanan FC.

The Men of Steel took an early lead at AR Lammual this afternoon though Billu Telli on the fifth minute. But Kanan FC restored parity four minutes later through winger Joseph Lalvenhima.

The local side came alive after finding the net with Joseph creating havoc for Jamshedpur's backline. H. Malsawmtluanga then struck a freekick on the 34th minute for Kanan FC as they seemed destined for their first win of the tournament.
