An array of great futsallers and legendary footballers will join hands to dazzle at Premier Futsal 2016. Among the superstars that will take to the field in the coming week or so is the legendary Manchester United pairing of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. However, the former Red Devils greats will be on opposite sides this time around with Giggs set to turn out for Mumbai 5s while Scholes dawns the colours of Bengaluru. Midfielder Scholes was looking forward to taking part in the unique extravaganza and hoped he could play a part in introducing the magical sport of futsal to India. “Through Premier Futsal, I hope we can showcase the importance of Futsal as a sport to the Indian fans,” he said. Former teammate Giggs joined in stating that he was excited about the challenge of competing at the event “Several countries across the world are now embracing Futsal at the academy level to improve the game of kids at a very young age. I am delighted that entrepreneurs in India could think of this concept of Premier Futsal and manage to put together all these Futsal players and of course, all these legends who I have grown up playing with,” explained Giggs. The former England midfielder complimented the event’s promoters for giving talented Indian youngsters the opportunity to showcase their skills alongside such global stars. “The thought of having the Indian players as a part of the playing team showcases the intent of the promoters to encourage the youth to take up Futsal. All of us here sincerely hope we can give put together a season which will encourage more youngsters to come forth and pick up the sport as a profession,” reflected Scholes. On a lighter note an amazed Scholes expressed surprise at the number of fans who thronged the airport to welcome him. “I was told there are a lot of Manchester United fans here, but I was pleasantly surprised to know that it was beyond my expectations," the midfielder said.Latest News
