Nigerian Coaches Association to support Salisu Yusuf until proven guilty
The Super Eagles crashed out of the World Cup during the group stage.
The head coach of Lobi Stars FC, Solomon Ogbeide, has confirmed that the board of Nigerian coaches, Nigerian Coaches Association, will continue to support Salisu Yusuf in the bribe case. The Lobi Stars manager further claimed that Yusuf has been setup by people and that the support will not stop coming until the manager is found guilty.
National team head coach Yusuf has been alleged to have taken bribes from journalists to discuss player selection with them. The journalists were disguised as football agents.
Yusuf has been caught on camera accepting $1000 in cash was filmed by Ghanaian reporter Anas Aremeyaw Anas in September 2017. The footage was taken during the West African Football Union Unity Competition.
The secretary of the Nigerian Football Coaches Association, Ogbeide, has shown trust on one of their own and has vowed to back the coach until their confidence in the coach is proven to be wrongly placed.

In an official statement he explained, "What I have to say about it is that it has not been confirmed that Salisu Yusuf erred."

“He was not the one that asked for the cash that was given to him and we heard from the footage of the video clip where he said players are selected on merit. We will not leave him at this point in time until it is proven that he committed the wrongdoing.”
