Hockey Men's Junior World Cup 2021 Match 20 Highlights: India Vs Poland

The attention will next turn towards the quarter-final against Belgium. It will be a tough encounter against the European giants with some causes for concern for Graham Reid. The biggest concern will be the lack of discipline with India having picked up five cards tonight, three of them being yellow cards.

A much better showing will be needed when they take to the pitch on Wednesday, December 1. All of them will have to be up to the task with the Belgians capable of punishing any small mistakes that India make. However, the goalscoring prowess of Sanjay and Hundal Araijeet Singh means will be gunning for glory as they look to replicate the 'Class of 2016' by defending the Junior Hockey World Cup title on home soil.

The Indian team showed good attacking intent right from the start tonight. The sparse crowd at the Kalinga Stadium were treated to yet another goal-fest. This victory means India will finish in second place in Pool B behind France.

Yet another commanding victory for India was picked up courtesy of brilliant play by the Indian colts. Sanjay and Hundal Araijeet Singh continued their fine form by netting a brace each. Sudeep also scored twice. Uttam Singh and Shardanand Singh also registered their names on the scoresheet in a dominant victory over Poland.

FT: INDIA 8-2 POLAND

The Polish players certainly had a good last quarter but it counted for nothing in the end as India cruised to victory in the end. The result was never in doubt and it was a matter of only by how much India would win after the end of the third quarter really.

Q4: GOAAAALLLL!!!! INDIA 8-2 POLAND

Hundal Araijeet Singh scores his second of the night.

Q4: GOAAAALLLL!!!! INDIA 7-2 POLAND

Sanjay scores a field goal as India finally get some joy in this final quarter of the match. Good awareness from the youngster who was first to react after a rebound.

Q4: Goal for Poland again! This time it's Maksymilian Pawlak who gets in on the act. Poland are definitely finishing the match strongly. INDIA 6-2 POLAND.

Q4: Goal for Poland! Finally, the Polish pressure bears fruit as captain Wojciech Rutkowski converts a penalty corner to ensure that India will not be having a clean sheet tonight. INDIA 6-1 POLAND.

Q4: Indian goalkeeper Pawan makes a brilliant stop as Poland try to break the ice but to no avail.

Q4: Poland wins a rare penalty corner but they squander the opportunity as the Indian defenders are quick off the blocks to stop any incoming drag flick. Brilliant defending as the Indians are showing no complacency despite the massive lead.

The hooter goes for the penultimate time tonight. India have scored three goals in this quarter alone to make it six for the night without reply. This is turning out to be the perfect dress rehearsal ahead of the Belgium clash.

Q3: GOAAAALLLL!!!! INDIA 6-0 POLAND

Gurmukh Singh lost control after a good run into the box however, Sudeep takes over to put the ball once again in the Polish net. This is crazy stuff in just a couple of minutes as the Poland team are down on their heels now.

Q3: GOAAAALLLL!!!! INDIA 5-0 POLAND

Uttam Singh wins a penalty corner with some nice individual skills. Shardanand Singh converts the PC with ease and India are running riot now.

Q3: GOAAAALLLL!!!! INDIA 4-0 POLAND

Skipper Vivek Sagar Prasad shows his quality going on a rampaging run and then pulls the ball back for Uttam Singh who has the simplest of tasks to tap the ball into the back of the net. India are playing for fun now as the sparse crowd in Bhubaneshwar goes berserk.

Q3: The third quarter begins as the defending champions are well on track to reach the quarterfinals.

HT: INDIA 3-0 POLAND

The hooter goes as we reach the halfway mark in this match. It was a quieter second quarter for the Indian colts however, they did manage to extend their advantage through Sudeep's fantastic finish. With the match seemingly in the bag now and Belgium awaiting the Indians, Graham Reid might be keen to rest some of his key players for the remainder of this encounter.

Q2: Meanwhile news coming in from elsewhere is that Belgium has topped Pool A. Therefore, India looks set to face the European giants in the quarter-final.

Q2: Polish goalkeeper Maciej Wieczorek has been simply superb today. Without him in goal, we would have been seeing a tennis scoreline by now.

Q2: GOAAAALLLL!!!! INDIA 3-0 POLAND

Sudeep tricks the Polish defence by spinning a web around them and it looked like he would produce a disguised pass. However, to everyone's surprise, he unleashed an unstoppable shot to give India a three-goal lead now.

Q2: On the pitch, India is down to 10 men after captain Vivek Sagar Prasad picks up a green card.

Q2: Meanwhile, Maninder Singh gets some attention on his hamstring at the sidelines. It might signal the end of the tournament for him if it is a hamstring strain. What a bitter blow that would be for the Indian side!

Q2: The second quarter begins with Poland trying to up the intensity now.

It has been a solid first quarter for India. Goals from the in-form Sanjay and Hundal Araijeet Singh puts India firmly in the driving seat. However, an injury to Maninder Singh at the end of the quarter is a big blow for India.

The hooter goes! That brings to an end the first quarter here in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

Q1: GOAAAALLLL!!!! INDIA 2-0 POLAND

Well, one hat-trick hero follows another. Hundal Araijeet Singh also gets off the mark tonight and it is another PC converted. Terrific drag flick, India have been solid from set-pieces so far.

Q1: Another penalty corner for India! However, this time Shardanand Tiwari's shot is saved by the Polish keeper Maciej Wieczorek.

Q1: GOAAAALLLL!!!! INDIA 1-0 POLAND

That's the start that India were exactly looking for. A penalty corner for India which has been confidently tucked away by Sanjay. That's his 7th goal in the tournament, as the youngster continues his red-hot streak.

Q1: The match is underway! The Indian team is attacking from the right to left in the first quarter.

The team news is in. Here’s the Indian starting XI tonight that will get on the turf to face Poland.
