Indian Sports Calendar in 2023: Events to watch out for in fourth week of July

The men's hockey team will be in action for the first time in over a month.
A lot of sporting events are lined up in the upcoming week of the Indian sports calendar. The BWF tour moves to Japan next week with several top players set to return to action including world no. 1 Viktor Axelson. The Indian tennis contingent had an excellent run last week with Sumit Nagal winning the Tampere Open, while the doubles pairing of Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni followed by Anirudh and Sundar reaching the semi-finals of ATP 250 Hall of Fame Open in the USA.
This week too, several players are slated to take part in various meets. Here we take a look at the events to follow in the upcoming week (July 24-30) in the Indian sports calendar.
Aquatics
- July 14-30: World Championships, Japan
Swimming, Water Polo, Diving are set to feature in the World Aquatics Championships set to be held in Japan. Tokyo Olympian Srihari Natraj will lead the Indian contingent at the competition.
Water Polo and Diving events have concluded with swimming set to start on July 23rd.
Badminton
None of the Indian players apart from Satwik and Chirag, progressed to the quarter-finals of BWF Korea Open last week. The action now shifts to Japan at the BWF 750 Japan Open. Unlike the previous tournament, only the top Indian shuttlers will be given direct entry.
PV Sindhu after having joined hands with Hafiz Hashim should look to bring back her prime form ahead of the World Championships.

Cricket
After winning the opening test by an innings, the Indian cricket team heads to Trinidad and Tobago to take part in the final test of the tour and whitewash West Indies (2-0). Following the completion of the second Test, both teams will begin the three-match ODI series later this week.

Hockey
After a break of over a month, the men's hockey team will head to Spain to take part in a four-nation tournament. A total of 24 players are set to represent the Indian side.
- July 25-30: Torneo Del Centenario, Spain
Table Tennis
The Ultimate Table Tennis Season 4 is entering its final stages with teams battling out to reach the semi-finals. Top four teams after the end of league stage will reach the playoffs with all the six teams looking equally balanced.
