India’s total medal tally at the World Games now extend to eight.

India recorded its best-ever performance at the World Games 2025, sealing three medals with one silver and two bronze, in Chengdu.

Team India’s campaign kicked-off with Rishabh Yadav, who opened India’s medal tally by clinching the bronze in men’s compound archery.

Soon after, Namrata Batra created history by winning a silver medal in women’s sanda 52kg, marking India’s first-ever medal in wushu at the World Games.

India’s third and final medal came from Anandkumar Velkumar, who secured bronze in men’s 1000m sprint inline speed skating (track). It was also, India’s maiden medal in roller sports at the tournament.

With these three medals, India’s total count at the World Games now stands at eight medals (1 gold, 2 silver, 5 bronze).

Unfortunately, in Chengdu, India could have added more to its tally but suffered close misses as it was an all Indian bronze medal match in men’s compound archery where Abhishek Verma lost to compatriot Rishabh Yadav.

Hopes were pinned on Shivam Arora also, but she fell 5–4 to China’s Tang Chunxiao in the mixed heyball pool bronze medal clash. On the other hand, Aryanpal Singh Ghuman missed out on a bronze in the men’s 200m inline speed skating time trial by just 0.083 seconds.
