Anahat Singhâs memorable Asian Games 2026 campaign ended with a silver medal after she went down 0-3 to Malaysiaâs Sivasangari Subramaniam in the womenâs singles final on Sunday.
The Malaysian, who also won the title at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, completed an 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 victory in 27 minutes at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.
Sivasangari, the world No. 5 and top seed, made the stronger start and quickly put Anahat under pressure. The Indian teenager struggled to impose her attacking game as the Malaysian controlled the rallies and moved efficiently around the court.

Sivasangari took the opening game 11-4 before maintaining the momentum in the second, which she won by the same margin.
Anahat tried to extend the contest in the third game and showed more resistance, but Sivasangari handled the important points better. The Malaysian eventually wrapped up the game 11-7 to retain her Asian Games crown.

For Anahat, however, the silver represents another major step in a rapidly developing career. The 18-year-old had already won two bronze medals at the previous Asian Games, in the womenâs team event and mixed doubles.
She also became the first Indian to win the World Junior Squash Championship earlier this year.
The Indian had to overcome a difficult path to the final. After defeating Singaporeâs Wai Lynn Au Yeong in the Round of 16, she beat compatriot Tanvi Khanna in the quarter-finals before producing a stunning comeback against Japanâs world No. 6 Satomi Watanabe in the semi-final.

Anahat recovered from 0-2 down and saved two match points in the third game before winning 9-11, 11-13, 12-10, 11-6, 11-3.
The final result means Anahatâs wait for an Asian Games singles gold continues, but her run in Nagoya has still marked a historic chapter for Indian squash.
She became the first Indian woman to reach an Asian Games singles final, while she and Abhay Singh became Indiaâs first two individual singles finalists at the same Asian Games.
