He has also now made the final of all four majors this season.

In his quest to win a record 24th Grand Slam, Novak Djokovic defeated American Ben Shelton in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(4) and advanced to his 10th US Open final. With this win, Djokovic also became the first male to reach 10 finals at multiple Grand Slam events.

The tennis legend has reached the Australian Open final 10 times and lifted the men's singles title on each of those 10 occasions, while he has won three titles at the US Open and is currently chasing a fourth at Flushing Meadows.

But reaching the US Open 2023 final, Djokovic also accomplished the feat of reaching the final of all four Grand Slam events in a single season on multiple occasions. This is the third time Djokovic has achieved this milestone, having also reached the finals of all four Grand Slam events in 2015 and 2021.

In both those years, he won three Grand Slams each, including the US Open title in 2-15. This year the Serbian has already won the Australian Open and French Open titles and is one victory away from lifting the US Open trophy. Only Roger Federer has matched that feat among male players in the Open Era.

Djokovic's road to the US Open 2023 final was full of challenges, which included a formidable match up in the form of Laslo Djere, a fellow countryman who forced Djokovic to the five sets, the longest game of his US Open 2023 campaign.

In the post-match interview, after his win over Ben Shelton, Novak Djokovic said, "I'm obviously over the moon with the results so far in Grand Slams. Playing in all four finals of the Slams in a season is amazing. It's the highest achievement I can think about when I start the season." He added, "That's what I dream about, that's what I really wanted, that's where I want to be, in this kind of position."

Now Djokovic will face the Russian Daniil Medvedev who reached the US Open Final with a dominant victory over world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(7) 6-1 3-6 6-3.

With the final to be played on September 10 (Sunday), the world of tennis is eagerly waiting for Djokovic's clash with Medvedev, where he will be looking to avenge his 2021 US Open final defeat, when the third seeded Russian defeated Djokovic in straight sets.
