The Italian is maintaining an unbeaten streak at ATP Finals 2023.
Jannik Sinner has proven to be a worthy top-five player, being the only player in the ATP tour this season to have defeated Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev, the top three in the Pepperstone ATP rankings. The Italian handed Djokovic his first loss since Wimbledon and snapped the World No. 1’s 19-match winning streak, earning his first-ever win against the Serbian star.
The Italian’s win meant, Djokovic is still on the hunt for the semi-final spot at the ATP Finals 2023, while Sinner is comfortably perched at the top of the Green group, having won both matches. The 22-year-old’s head-to-head against the defending champion stands at 1-3 after his round-robin win in Turin, Italy.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have met each other on three occasions in the ongoing season, all three times in the semifinals stage. They played each other in the ATP Masters in Indian Wells and Miami and at the ATP 500 event in Beijing. Alcaraz won at Indian Wells, while Sinner emerged victorious in Miami and Beijing.

At the ATP Finals 2023, Sinner will face Holger Rune in the final group stage encounter on Thursday (November 16th) for a chance to go unbeaten in the semifinals, cementing his top position in the group. Preceding the Sinner-Rune clash, Novak Djokovic will take on alternate Hubert Hurackz. The Polish came in as a substitute for Stefanos Tsitsipas, who withdrew from the tournament due to a back injury.
