The Indo-Australian pair has won 40 matches this season.
Third seed men’s doubles pairing of Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden lost to Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in semifinals at ATP Finals 2023. The Indo-Australian exited in straight sets (5-7, 6-4) with the match lasting close to 90 minutes. With this loss, the experienced duo end their debut season by registering 40 wins in the ATP Tour.
Like the previous encounter, Bopanna and Ebden started well by winning their respective service games. The fifth seed opponents too never let their service go down in the initial half of the encounter. At (5-5), Ebden recorded few double faults which ultimately resulted in service break. Prior to this encounter, Ebden had registered only two double faults.
However this time he couldn’t carry on and lost a service game at crunch situation. The 5th seed who were serving for the set pocketed the opener comfortably (7-5). The Australian succumbed to pressure and once again lost his service at the start of second set. This proved to be costly as the opponents settled down and took away the match in straight sets.
At (3-4), the Indo-Australian pair had a slight chance of coming back when the scorecard read (30-30) but the opponents surged ahead by registering aces.
