ATP Finals 2023: Jannik Sinner trounces Daniil Medvedev in three sets to reach maiden final

The Italian has remained unbeaten so far in the tournament.
Jannik Sinner pulled off a stunning win over Daniil Medvedev to reach his first ATP Finals 2023 in a thrilling three-set encounter. The Italian youngster showed his resilience and talent as he overcame the 2020 champion 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 in front of a roaring crowd on Saturday, November 18th.
The fourth seed started the match with confidence and aggression, breaking Medvedev’s serve in the fourth game of the first set. He maintained his lead with some powerful strokes and closed out the set 6-3 with a forehand winner.
Following set was evenly contested, with both players holding their serves until the tie-break. Medvedev raised his level and took advantage of some errors from Sinner to earn three set points at 6-3 in the tie-breaker. In the end, Medvedev came up with the goods in serves and forced errors to clinch the second set 7-6 (7-4).
The third set was a complete turnaround, as Sinner regained his composure and dominance. He broke the match open in the third set, clinching the first game with a smashing forehand winner, broke Medvedev’s serve next and raced ahead with 3-0 lead.

At this point, the Russian looked frustrated and tired, unable to match Sinner’s intensity and accuracy. Sinner sealed the match 6-1 with a service winner, earning a standing ovation from the crowd and a spot in the finals.
Sinner, who is one of the youngest players in the tournament, thanked the fans for their support and said he felt much better after breaking Medvedev in the first set. He also said he was looking forward to the final, where he will face either world no.1 Novak Djokovic or Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
