Taylah Preston is the youngest wildcard entry so far for the upcoming edition.

Former world no.1 in women’s singles, Caroline Wozniacki, has been handed main-draw wildcard entry for the upcoming Australian Open 2024. Alongside her, six other Australian tennis players have been awarded entries in men’s and women’s section. After staying away from the sport for almost four years, Wozniacki made a comeback in August earlier this year.

The 2018 Australian Open champion made a good comeback by reaching the fourth round of US Open but lost to eventual champion Coco Gauff in the fourth round. “I have so many wonderful memories of Melbourne, and of course winning the Australian Open is an all-time career highlight. Melbourne’s one of my most favourite cities in the world, and I can’t wait to share it with my family and my kids,” Wozniacki told The AO Show podcast.

Marc Polsman, former world rank 49, had a good end to the 2023 season winning a few Challenger titles. He started the year outside top 300 and with a consistent run is back into the top 150’s in the ATP singles rankings. Ranked 116, James Duckworth will look to make most of the opportunity this time after having missed out on direct qualification for the home grand slam in 2023.

Kimberley Birrel, 25, lost out on qualifying for the main draw last year after losing in the final qualifying round. However, this year she has received a golden chance of playing in the main draw. Her best result at the Australian Open is reaching the third round in 2019. Meanwhile, Taylah Preston, 18, is the youngest wildcard recipient among the seven entries for Australian Open 2024.
