Where and how to Watch Australian Open 2024 live in the USA?
Coco Gauff will lead the American charge.
The first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open 2024, is set to begin on Saturday night in the U.S. (Sunday morning in Australia), with the best tennis players in the world competing for the coveted trophy in Melbourne. The singles draw consists of 128 players, 112 of whom have secured their spots through their rankings or wild cards, while the remaining 16 have qualified through the preliminary rounds held in the previous week.
Among the top contenders is Novak Djokovic, the world No. 1 and the defending champion, who has won a record 10 titles at the Australian Open. He will face Croatian qualifier Dino Prizmic in the first round and will look to continue his impressive run at the hard-court major.
Coco Gauff will lead US Juggernaut, the 19-year-old American who stunned the world by winning her maiden Grand Slam at the US Open last year. Gauff has improved her game in several aspects, especially her forehand and her mental toughness, which have helped her win matches even when she is not at her best. She will face Slovakian Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in the opening round.
Another American who has been making waves is Jessica Pegula, who is currently ranked No. 5 in the world. Pegula has reached the quarterfinals of six Grand Slams but has yet to advance further. She will hope to make her first Grand Slam semifinal or final in Melbourne, where she will start her campaign against Canadian Rebecca Marino.
