Jannik Sinner won his fifth Grand Slam title by defeating Alexander Zverev in a closely fought four-set battle.

Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner arrived at Wimbledon 2026 carrying the weight of a difficult fortnight at Roland Garros, where a shocking second-round loss to Juan Manuel Cerundolo had left questions hanging over his season. He answered every single one of them, though, at SW19.

World No. 1 Sinner began his title defence with a five-set scare against Miomir Kecmanovic in the first round, but from that point on he was almost untouchable.

He dropped just one set in his next six matches, dismantling Novak Djokovic in the semifinals for the second year running, and then coming from a set down to beat Alexander Zverev 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the final.

The Italian did not just add another prestigious title to his already illustrious cabinet, but also rewrote several pages of the record books in one afternoon on Centre Court. On that note, let’s take a look at some of those records he broke.

Records set by Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon 2026

5. Youngest player to reach five consecutive Wimbledon quarterfinals since Pete Sampras in 1996

Sinner beat Shintaro Mochizuki in the fourth round to reach his fifth straight Wimbledon quarterfinal at just 24 years and 319 days of age, making him the youngest player to achieve five or more consecutive men’s singles quarter-final appearances at the All England Club since Pete Sampras did it at 24 years and 317 days in 1996.

4. 100th Grand Slam match win

The 2026 Wimbledon final was Sinner’s 100th career victory at a Grand Slam tournament, making him the eighth active player to reach that milestone. He joins Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Marin Cilic, Alexander Zverev, Gael Monfils, Kei Nishikori and Grigor Dimitrov in that club.

What sets Sinner apart is the rate at which those wins have come, as from his 39th Grand Slam match win at the 2024 Australian Open onwards, the Italian holds a 62-6 win-loss record at Slams, with a staggering 91.2% win rate. He now holds a 100-22 record at Grand Slam tournaments overall.

3. Only the fifth player since 2000 to reach 10 Grand Slam semi-finals before turning 25

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner became just the fifth player in the modern era to hit 10 major semi-finals before the age of 25, joining Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

As of today, he has reached the semis thrice at the Australian Open, twice at Roland Garros, thrice at Wimbledon and twice at the US Open.

2. First Italian to win Wimbledon twice

When Sinner lifted the trophy in 2025, he became the first Italian player in history to win Wimbledon. Twelve months later, he did it again. No Italian had ever won it once until last year, and now he is the only one to have won it in back-to-back years.

To put that in context, the only previous Italian men’s finalist at Wimbledon in the Open Era was Matteo Berrettini in 2021, who lost to Djokovic.

He joins Rod Laver, John Newcombe, Björn Borg, John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz.
