Aryna Sabalenka vs Laura Siegemund prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Wimbledon 2025

World No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka, is hoping to match best performance at Wimbledon by reaching the semis.

Aryna Sabalenka extended her dominance over Elise Mertens with a gritty 6-4, 7-6(4) win on Sunday to reach the Wimbledon 2025 quarter-finals, continuing her quest for a first title at SW19.

The Belarusian, who had won 10 of their 12 prior meetings, looked in control early, breaking Mertens to build a 4-1 lead before briefly losing her rhythm. However, she regained focus to take the first set with a brilliant backhand winner.

In the second set, Mertens fought back to break early, but Sabalenka quickly leveled and stayed composed in a tense tiebreak. Using her power and experience at key moments, the top seed clutched in the end, to get the job done with a forehand volley, setting up a last-eight clash against Laura Siegemund.

Preview

Laura Siegemund became the oldest woman left in the Wimbledon draw, ending lucky loser Solana Sierra’s dream run with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 victory on a rain-hit Sunday to reach the quarter-finals. After an early rain delay and initial exchanges of breaks, Siegemund took control by capitalizing on Sierra’s errors, including a crucial double fault.

The German surged ahead in the second set after another rain interruption, showing no mercy as she closed out the match on her third match point. Siegemund’s most impressive victory so far has come against Australian Open champion Madison Keys. She is yet to drop a set so far, just like her quarter-final opponent, Sabalenka.

Sabalenka is currently on a purple patch, but Siegemund has already taken down two seeded players. The Belarusian will look to resort to familiar tactics, which have worked wonders for her this season. Her empathic victories in the previous two battles, against Emma Raducanu and Mertens, both of which were hard-fought, must have provided the World No. 1 with a lot of confidence.

There is not much to look into the duo’s head-to-head record, as they last met back in 2019. Sabalenka won the only two exchanges between them; however, they have never contested on grass before.

Match prediction

Both players have been dominant in their campaigns at Wimbledon 2025 so far, having not lost a set until now. This record is certain to break on Tuesday. Sabalenka is eyeing a third semi-final appearance at SW19, while Siegemund hopes for a maiden place in the final four. Not many would have expected the German to reach this stage, but upsets have defined the Championship so far.

Sabalenka’s power and relentless aggression can easily disrupt any opponent’s natural game. However, the pressure of facing an unseeded player and the frustration that can arise mid-match cannot be overlooked, which has always been an issue for the 27-year-old.

On paper, the World No. 1 is expected to secure a convincing win, but the 37-year-old Siegemund has already shown her composure and resilience against higher-ranked players. If she plays fearlessly, she could well produce one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

Result: Laura Siegemund will win in three sets.
