Carlos Alcaraz fires back after Nick Kyrgios' 'distasteful' comment on his personal life

Nick Kyrgios is one of the most controversial figures in recent tennis history.
Nick Kyrgios continues to make headlines for his actions off the court. The Australian has tweeted more this year than games won on court since 2024. He has quickly built a reputation for being a tennis critic after his violent allegations over World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, when the Italian was found guilty of doping negligence.
Kyrgios has now aimed at five-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz. In a conversation with Naomi Osaka’s current coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, during the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) podcast, Kyrgios shared his thoughts on the budding rivalry between World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
He also weighed in on who he believes will finish their career with more titles, offering a bold and candid opinion on the future of the sport’s top two stars.
“Who do you think’s gonna have a better career, Alcaraz or Sinner? I’ll tell you mine first. I’ll say Sinner, because Alcaraz likes girls,” remarked Kyrgios. “He might get distracted, he might party too much. That’s my only thing, whereas Sinner will stay a bit locked in, I think.”
Interestingly, the French coach, who has previously been with Serena Williams, Holger Rune, and Stefanos Tsitsipas, agreed with Kyrgios, stating that the Italian is less prone to upsets and more reliable on tour when compared to Alcaraz.
“Sinner is more consistent in general,” claimed Mouratoglou. “It’s more his mentality. If you look at the season, Alcaraz is losing many more matches than Sinner, so many more. You think he should not, why? But because he’s not always there. Even during the match, he has ups, downs. For that reason, yes.”
Despite being more consistent, though, Mouratoglou believes that it will finally boil down to the head-to-head record between the duo, which Alcaraz leads 8-5, after his outrageous five-setter classic duel in the 2025 Roland Garros finals was successfully avenged by the Italian at SW19.

After his challenging victory at the third round of Wimbledon Championships this year against Jan-Lennard Struff, he was asked for his response to Kyrgios’ statement during the post-match, to which the 22-year-old gave a mature yet fitting reply.
“They’re funny comments, which coming from him, don’t surprise me. It’s no secret that Jannik always has fewer ups and downs than me. It’s something I’ve been working on. It has nothing to do with the nightlife world (translated from Spanish),” said Alcaraz to the media.
Carlos Alcaraz continued to show his brilliance both on and off the court. The Spaniard displayed emphatic performances against Andrey Rublev, Cameron Norrie, and Taylor Fritz, but had no answers to Jannik Sinner’s baseline aggression and ruthless serving, which halted Alcaraz’s reign at the All England Club.
