Carlos Alcaraz’s racquet fetches a record $173,000 at auction.

World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz made his way into the record books for yet another milestone in the 2025 season. The racquet with which he won his maiden Wimbledon title has fetched $173,000 in an auction through Prestige Memorabilia.

The then 20-year-old Alcaraz defeated the seven-time Wimbledon champion, Novak Djokovic 6-1, 6-7(6), 1-6, 6-3, 4-6 for his second Grand Slam title.

The Babolat racquet Alcaraz used during his 2023 Wimbledon title run is now the most expensive tennis memorabilia, surpassing the $157,300 set by Rafael Nadal’s racquet from the 2017 French Open.

It was not the only piece of memorabilia owned by Alcaraz that went under the hammer. The racquet used by him at a 2019 ATP Challenger event fetched $6,670.

Alcaraz last played at the Japan Open, where he won on debut by defeating Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 to claim his eighth title of the season. He next appeared in Riyadh for the Six Kings Slam exhibition match.

The six-time Grand Slam champions is confirmed to be among the Spanish squad for the Davis Cup lineup when the Spaniards take on Czecha in the finals in Novemver. Spain has won the team even six times while their Czech rivals have won thrice.

Alcaraz is all set to conclude a second consecutive year as ATP No. 1.  The Spaniard has been in pole position for the year-end honours since kickstarting his 2025 season with the Monte-Carlo Masters title in April.

An unexpected injury in 2022 kept Alcaraz from making his debut at the ATP Finals. The Spaniard secured his fourth qualification for the year-ending event back in July 2025. His best result at the event was making the semi-finals in 2023, losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. It will be his third time in Turin.

Ahead of Spain’s Davis Cup fixture and the year-ending ATP Finals in November, Alcaraz is likely to play in Paris at the final Mastrers 1000 event of the season.
