This is the second Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for Carlos Alcaraz who won it in 2023 as well.

Carlos Alcaraz has put the perfect finishing touch on his beautiful 2025 season by winning the ATP Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award, an honour that celebrates exceptional professionalism, integrity, and fair play both on and off the court.

This isn’t new territory for the Spanish superstar, Alcaraz also received the award in 2023. The nominees were first selected by the International Tennis Writers’ Association (ITWA).

However, this year, for the first time ever, the winner was chosen by members of the ATP No. 1 Club, which includes former and current World No. 1 players.

Alcaraz surpassed a strong shortlist of nominees that included, Grigor Dimitrov who was the 2024 winner, Casper Ruud who won the award in 2022 and Felix Auger-Aliassime, the only nominee yet to claim the award.

The 22-year-old already owns six Grand Slam titles, the same number of titles won by Stefan Edberg himself, the legend for whom the award is named.

Alcaraz finished 2025 as the year-end World No. 1, winning two Grand Slam titles (the French Open and the US Open) and securing a tour-leading 71 match victories. Apart from the two majors, he won six more titles this season—three ATP Masters 1000 events, and three ATP 500 tournaments.

Beyond the tennis, the Spanish sensation kept fans busy giving some unforgettable off-court moments. One of the most memorable came right before the 2025 US Open, when he showed up sporting a drastic buzz cut.

Alcaraz later revealed that his brother Alvaro attempted to give him a simple trim but he got misunderstood with the machine, leaving uneven patches. The only solution was to shave everything off.

The season overall saw Alcaraz as the ‘nice guy’ playing tennis out there and at the end he gets the award meant for it.
