Coco Gauff also faced Iga Swiatek at the 2022 French Open final, losing in straight sets.
American tennis star Coco Gauff is set to overtake Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in the new WTA rankings. Gauff will officially become the new World No. 2 as soon as the new rankings are released.
Coco Gauff lost to Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals at the 2024 French Open, while Aryna Sabalenka suffered a disappointing elimination at the quarter-finals by 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva.
Aryna Sabalenka will lose 350 WTA ranking points because she reached the semi-finals in 2023. Meanwhile, Coco Gauff will gain 350 points because her 2023 French Open campaign ended in the quarter-finals against Swiatek.
World No. 4: Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina will maintain her ranking. However, Jessica Pegula will move from five to six, with 2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova becoming the new World No. 5.
Interestingly, 2024 French Open runner-up Jasmine Paolini will make a leap of eight spots to become the new World No. 7, leaving Qinwen Zheng, Maria Sakkari and Ons Jabeur behind.

Emma Navarro will also jump seven spots, from 23 to 17. However, 17-year-old Russian prodigy Mirra Andreeva has made the biggest leap of 15 spots. The 2024 French Open semi-finalist will take the 23rd rank, which will help her get seeded for the upcoming tournaments, especially in the grass season and Wimbledon.
