Elena Rybakina vs Katie Boulter prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Indian Wells Open 2025

Rybakina returns to Indian Wells after skipping the event last season.
Elena Rybakina, the 2023 champion in Indian Wells, is joined by Katie Boulter in the third round of the Indian Wells Open 2025. The duo last met in the third round at Wimbledon two years ago. Rybakina easily brushed aside Boulter on that occasion, dropping just two games in the straight set win.
Elena Rybakina breezed through her second-round match against Suzan Lamens of the Netherlands, 6-3 6-3. The seventh seed played a tight service game, winning 76% of his first-serve points besides scoring five aces and saving three breakpoints to win in just 85 minutes.

Boulter appears to have staged a recovery from her foot injury to best Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu. The British No. 1 fought back from a set down to complete the 6-7 (2-7) 6-3 6-0 win in 2 hours and 34 minutes. Boulter was generous with her double faults, with nine coming off her racquet to seven by Begu. Converting all three breakpoints in the decider ultimately worked in the 28-year-old Boulter’s favour.
The Englishwoman, who has dropped to World No. 38 on being sidelined since the Australian Open, can expect a tough contest against World No. 7 Rybakina. The win over Begu gave Boulter her first main draw win at Indian Wells.

Preview
Fortunes may appear to be favouring a rematch between Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva should the seventh seed find a way past Katie Boulter. The Kazakh lost to Andreeva in three sets in the Dubai Tennis Championship 2025, a reversal from their previous meeting in Beijing in 2023. The two women from the WTA singles draw face a tricky path to the last four with potential encounters with Qinwen Zheng and Jessica Pegula – both seeded in the top ten- on the cards.
Rybakina is the only player from Kazakhstan to have won the women’s singles title in California. To ensure a similar result, she may have to find a way past World No. 2 Iga Swiatek, who headlines the bottom half of the draw.

Boulter secured her maiden title at the WTA 500 San Diego Open before following up with a WTA 250 title in Nottingham last season. The two title runs propelled Boulter to a career-high World No. 23 ranking. Boulter re-capturing some of that form would yield an intriguing match between the duo.

Match Prediction
Elena Rybakina and Katie Boulter will be crossing paths for the first time since 2023. The duo last played in Boulter’s backyard – Wimbledon. The result went in Rybakina’s favour, with the Kazakh winning in straight sets.
If the second victory by Rybakina over Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens is any indication, the World No. 7 should expect an easy outing against Boulter. Her British rival suffered a setback early in the season with a foot injury.

Facing the 2023 champion, Boulter will need to start strongly in her third-round match. Given Boulter’s lack of on-court time at Indian Wells since her main draw debut in 2022, the Brit will face an uphill task to win. A close but assured victory for Rybakina is the likely outcome.
Result: Rybakina will win in three sets.
