How will top 10 of ATP rankings look after Madrid Open 2025?

Casper Ruud overcame his slow start to the season with a triumph at the Madrid Open 2025, defeating Jack Draper in the final. As a result, the Norwegian broke into the top-10 of ATP rankings once again. Runner-up Jack Draper, on the other hand, became only the fourth Brit to enter the top-5 of ATP rankings in men’s tennis history.

Carlos Alcaraz missed the tournament due to injury, while Alexander Zverev suffered another poor outing in Madrid. If the German fails to defend his crown at the Italian Open, Zverev is certain to concede his second spot to the Spaniard, irrespective of Alcaraz’s performance in Rome.

Taylor Fritz held his ground as the World No #4 but 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic bows out of the top-five. The Serbian has now faced four opening round defeats in the previous five ATP tournaments he has participated in, highlighting the 37-year-old’s inconsistency and poor form.

Having announced his decision to skip the Italian Open, Djokovic will enter French Open 2025 with plenty of question marks on his form and fitness.

The Madrid Open also resulted in Daniil Medvedev’s exit from the top-10. The Russian was beaten by eventual winner Ruud in the quarter-final, and his woes could continue, given his poor record on clay.

With his three-month ban about to conclude, Jannik Sinner will enter his home event as the World No #1 with a handsome lead of over 1000 points. The Italian’s dominance despite his long on-court absence indicates how far ahead Sinner is from the rest of the field.
