Swiatek has made the quarter-final of every event she has played this season.
Iga Swiatek has been the most consistent player on tour. Having competed in five tournaments so far, she has reached the semi-finals thrice, finished as a quarter-finalist in Indian Wells and has now made her fifth straight quarter-final appearance in Florida.
While these are incredible returns for any other player, the World No. #2 will feel she has underperformed. Despite emerging as a top contender, the Pole has fallen short and hasn’t triumphed since French Open 2024. Hoping to end this agonizingly long wait, Swiatek’s path to glory seems to be a straight-forward one, with a potential 1 vs 2 for the title clash.

Preview
Only five out of the top 10 seeds have made the top eight, which includes Aryna Sabalenka, Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, Jasmine Paolini and Qinwen Zheng. Consecutive WTA-1000 champion Mirra Andreeva, two-time Miami finalist Elena Rybakina and third seed Coco Gauff’s early exit have increased the five-time Grand Slam winner’s hopes of a second Miami Open title.
Swiatek overcame Elina Svitolina and Elise Mertens in her previous rounds, and is set to encounter Alexandra Eala for the first time in her career. Eala’s maiden quarter-final appearance comes by surprise, as the Filipino doesn’t boast a great record in WTA-1000 events. In fact, she previously featured in Mumbai’s 125K Open, where she suffered a round-two defeat.
However, she proved herself by stunning Australian Open champion Madison Keys and 25th seed Jelena Ostapenko. Having already become the first ever player from her country to qualify for the quarter-finals of a WTA-1000 competition, history beckons for the Filipina wild card as she is set to face-off against the Miami 2022 winner, with a semi-final berth at stake.

Match Prediction
Iga Swiatek is vastly experienced and is in excellent form currently. She was challenged by Svitolina, who broke the Pole thrice, yet couldn’t win a set against the second seed. The 23-year-old has yet again demonstated excellent defense and precision, and enters this battle as a firm favorite.
Eala has nothing to lose, having surpassed expectations with a win over Keys before benefiting from Badosa’s injury walkover. She could test the Pole, but a fourth semi-final awaits the five-time Grand Slam champion.
Result: Swiatek will win in straight sets.
