Jannik Sinner joins Nadal and Djokovic with Italian Open victory.
Novak Djokovic completed the Career Golden Masters in 2018, a full eleven years since he won his first Masters title – the 2007 Miami Open. He completed the haul at the 2018 Cincinnati Open. Djokovic, who has won a record 40 ATP Masters 1000 titles, has completed the Career Golden Masters twice.
Jannik Sinner has now accomplished the feat on home soil by winning the 2026 Italian Open. It took the Italian less than three years to do so, since winning his first ATP 1000 title in Toronto in 2023.
Sinner now has won his fifth Masters title in a single season and sixth consecutive overall since the 2025 Paris Masters.
He became the first Italian since Adriano Panatta in 1976 to win on home turf when he scripted a straight-set victory over Casper Ruud. Sinner won 6-4, 6-4 in one-hour and 44-minutes.
He also joined Rafael Nadal in the history books on Sunday, becoming just the second man to sweep all three clay-court ATP Masters 1000 titles in a single season in series history (since 1990). Nadal captured the Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome titles in 2010.
The World No. 1 dominated the European clay swing by capturing titles in Monte-Carlo, Madrid and now Rome over the past five weeks.
Sinner secured his 10th Masters 1000 crown and has now passed Carlos Alcaraz in the Big Title Race. The Italian has 16 major titles compared to 15 by the Spaniard.
Alcaraz has been sidelined with injury until the grass court season begins and will not defend his French Open crown that he won in dramatic fashion in 2025. This allows Sinner to build on the lead.
When did Jannik Sinner complete the Career Golden Masters?
Sinner accomplished this feat on May 17, 2026, by lifting the Italian Open. He defeated Norwegian Casper Ruud to get there.
