Preview: Jannik Sinner vs Daniil Medvedev final prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head: Indian Wells Open 2026

Sinner and Medvedev to square off at Tennis Garden for their first head-to-head meeting since 2024.
Jannik Sinner turned in a businesslike performance to oust Alexander Zverev 6-2, 6-4 in the semi-finals. The Italian World No. 2 took an hour and 24 minutes to book a spot in the finals for the very first time. Sinner is yet to drop a set en route to the title round at the 2026 Indian Wells Open.
Sinner, who reached the semi-finals in his previous appearances at the ATP 1000 event, produced an all-around performance to defeat Zverev for the sixth consecutive time. It was their fourth meeting at an ATP Masters 1000, with the 24-year-old Italian leading their head-to-head 7-4.
It was a virtual no-contest as Sinner fed off Zverev’s second serve, winning 13 of 18 points off it. The Italian kept his unforced errors to single digits, making just six of them to become the first Italian men’s singles finalist at Indian Wells.
Sinner has now reached the championship match at all six hard-court ATP 1000 events. The Indian Wells trophy is the only one missing from the Italian’s collection of the six hard-court Masters tournaments.
The Italian set up a title round appearance after a flawless week at Tennis Paradise and is yet to drop a set at the ATP 1000 event. His rival will be Daniil Medvedev, who is also making his title round debut in Southern California.
Medvedev blitzed two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets to reach his maiden Indian Wells final. The Russian completed his revenge arc with the 6-3, 7-6 (3) win to settle the score for back-to-back title round losses to Alcaraz in 2023 and 2024.
Like Sinner, Medvedev too has not put a foot wrong and is yet to drop a set in the 2026 edition. By upsetting the Spaniard in their one-hour, 38-minute encounter, Medvedev put an end to Alcaraz’s 16-match win streak in 2026.
Medvedev will be aiming for his seventh ATP 1000 title after reversing a string of four straight losses to Alcaraz.

Preview
Sinner faces Medvedev in his 10th career ATP Masters 1000 final after the Italian booked a spot in his first final of the 2026 season. Medvedev, who made it to Southern California despite being stranded briefly in Dubai, will play in his first Indian Wells final.
Medvedev, who will return to the ATP Top 10 on Monday, is 9-0 in completed matches going back to his title run at the ATP 500 Dubai Open last month.
Having accounted for the World No. 1, Medvedev will look to claim Sinner’s scalp and defeat the World No. 2 as well. The 30-year-old Russian is aiming for his first ATP 1000 title since the 2023 Italian Open.
Sinner’s run to the final at Indian Wells marks a reversal of fortunes in the 2026 season. The Italian is in his first final since the year-ending ATP Finals in November 2025, following early elimination in Melbourne and Doha this season.
The feud between Sinner and Medvedev will continue in Indian Wells, with the Italian leading by a narrow 8-7 margin in their head-to-head.

Match prediction
Medvedev has every reason to fancy his chances against Sinner. From an almost no-show to a title contender, it has been an impressive ride for the 30-year-old Russian.
He announced his return to form with a title run at Brisbane in January and is now 2-0 in finals in the new season. Sinner is hunting for his first title in 2026 after breaking new ground at Indian Wells to reach the championship round for the first time.
Sinner, the World No. 2, will be hungry for success as he faces a resurgent Medvedev with a maiden title at the venue on the line for both players. Medvedev ensured that a new champion would be crowned by eliminating two-time winner Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals.
Medvedev will look to extend the rallies on a warm day in Palm Springs. Sinner, for his part, will look to limit his time on court to two sets as he has faced heat-related issues in the past, most notably at the 2026 Australian Open.
Result: Daniil Medvedev to win in three sets.
