Jannik Sinner has reached the title round at ATP Finals for three consecutive editions.
Jannik Sinner walked off the court in Turin to a thunderous ovation, having just secured his third straight ATP Finals championship match. But this time, the moment carried even more weight.
With his 7-5, 6-2 victory over Alex de Minaur in the semi-finals of the year-end event, Sinner officially became the third man in tennis history to reach the final of all four Grand Slams and the ATP Finals in the same season.
This is a unique feat that has been previously achieved only by the two giants of the sport Roger Federer in both 2006 and 2007 and Novak Djokovic in 2015 and 2023. Now, at the age of just 24, Sinner became the youngest to ever accomplish it.
Federer was 25 when he first completed a season with three Grand Slam titles, a runner-up finish at the fourth, and an ATP Finals victory. He repeated the same remarkable run the following year.
Meanwhile, Djokovic achieved the feat at age 28, and like Federer, he won the ATP Finals both times he achieved the calendar-year five-final sweep, along with three Grand Slam titles in each of those seasons.
Sinner’s run to the summit clash in Turin adds another record to his historic season. With his victory in the semi-finals, he became the youngest player since Lleyton Hewitt in 2004 to reach three consecutive ATP Finals title matches.
Hewitt achieved the feat at 23, while Sinner has done it at 24. The Italian’s recod at the year-end final has witnessed the rapid rise: runner-up in 2023, champion in 2024, and now back in the final in 2025.
The 2025 season has pushed Sinner into rare air. He began the year by lifting the Australian Open trophy, suffered a three-month doping ban and yet fought his way to the Roland Garros final where he fell to Carlos Alcaraz.
But this was rebounded by winning the Wimbledon title. The Italian then once again finished runner-up to Alcaraz at the US Open.
And to cap off the season, tennis fans get one more chapter in the sport’s most thrilling rivalry. Sinner and Alcaraz are set to face each other for the sixth time in a final this year.
They met in the finals of the French Open, Wimbledon, Italian Open, Cincinnati Open, and the US Open.
“It is great facing Jannik,” Alcaraz said ahead of the Turin final showdown. “If it was someone else, I wouldn’t mind, to be honest. But facing him means we both have to raise our levels to the top. I have to play my plan A if I want to beat him, if I want to win the tournament. It’s great for the fans and the crowd.”
Sinner enters the final with five titles in 2025, with a chance to finish the year with six. Alcaraz, meanwhile, has already claimed eight titles this season, reclaiming the year-end World No. 1 ranking. He has also beaten Sinner in four of their five finals this year.
