Jannik Sinner is also one of only two players to win both the ATP Finals and Next Gen Finals titles.
Jannik Sinner making his way through the ranks to finish on top is one of the highlights of the 2024 season. He finished the year with eight titles and a 73-6 record, the most since Andy Murray won 78 matches in 2016.
The 2024 season was all about the Italian, as his successes this season heralded a change of the old guard. Sinner, the first from his country to become ATP World No. #1, can count two Grand Slams, the ATP Finals and the Davis Cap, among his exploits in 2024. Jannik Sinner and Stefanos Tsitispas are the only two players to have won the Next Gen Finals and the ATP Finals.
Becoming the only player in the history of the sport to earn the quadruple has only served to reinforce Sinner’s status as the gold standard for the 2024 season.
Sinner began the 2024 season by claiming his maiden Grand Slam, the Australian Open at Melbourne in January. He then went on to add the US Open trophy to his collection in September, making it to 2-0 at major event finals. By defeating Taylor Fritz in New York at the US Open, Sinner accomplished a feat that was last witnessed 47 years ago.
Guillermo Vilas won the French Open and the US Open in 1977 as his first two Grand Slam titles in the same season. The rare milestone eluded some of the best players in history, including certified legends – Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

Heading into 2024, Sinner’s best performance at a Grand Slam was the semi-final appearance at the 2023 Wimbledon. The San Candido native also scored ATP Masters trophies from Miami, Cincinnati and Shanghai as part of his haul.
The accomplishments of the World No. #1 include becoming the third player in ATP history after Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to win the Australian Open, the US Open and the ATP Finals in the same season.
In a season of firsts, he became the first player since Ivan Lendl in 1986 to win the ATP Finals trophy undefeated. Sinner was also crowned year-ending World No. #1 for the first time, besides being the only player with earnings of over $10 million in the 2024 season.
Sinner carried over his relentless form to the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, where he led Italy to their second consecutive Davis Cup trophy and their third overall.
