Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Wimbledon 2025

Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic will face each other in their second consecutive Grand Slam semi-final.

Novak Djokovic made a brilliant comeback after falling behind against Flavio Cobilli in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. The Serbian defeated the No. 22 seed, Cobolli 6-7(6), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 to reach his 14th semi-final at Wimbledon.

As he inches closer to his eighth Wimbledon title, Novak has gone past Roger Federer’s 13 semi-final appearances at the venue. He now has the most semi-final appearances at SW19 by any player in the Open Era.

Djokovic survived against Alex de Minaur despite dropping the first set in their fourth-round game. Similarly, the World No. 6 lost the opening set tie-break before finding his rhythm to rally for a three-hour, ten-minute victory against the 23-year-old Cobolli. It was their first meeting at a Grand Slam.

The 38-year-old Djokovic will play his 52nd Grand Slam semi-final against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner on Friday. Djokovic took the win on his third match point to set up a re-match from the 2023 Wimbledon semi-final against top seed Jannik Sinner.

Jannik Sinner ended Ben Shelton’s run with a 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-4 win to defeat the American sixth time in a row. The 22-year-old Shelton blew a 2-0 advantage in the opening set tiebreak.

The loss of the first set pegged the No. 10 seed back as the fixture followed the familiar script from their previous matches. The Italian top seed took two hours and nineteen minutes to end Shelton’s hopes of a place in the last four.

Preview

Jannik Sinner is fortunate to be in the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2025. He was a set away from losing to Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round. Dimitrov pulled away from the Italian to take a two sets to nil lead before an injury to his pectoral muscle forced the Bulgarian to retire.

Sinner turned up to play Shelton in an arm sleeve to counter the effects of his fall in the fourth round. There were no signs of discomfort from the Italian as he cruised to his sixth straight win over the American.

Novak Djokovic managed to hold his ground despite not being at his best at Wimbledon this year. He dropped a set against unseeded Alexandre Muller in the opening round before taking the next two wins in straight sets against Daniel Evans and Miomir Kecmanovic.

The Serbian surrendered the opening sets against Alex de Minaur and Flavio Cobolli before recovering to post wins in his usual clinical fashion. Expect more milestones to be breached should Djokovic (38) find a way past Sinner, beginning with becoming the second oldest finalist in tournament history since 39-year-old Ken Rosewall in 1974.

Match Prediction

It took Djokovic some deft manoeuvring to move past Cobolli and inch closer to his eighth Wimbledon title. His upcoming match against Sinner will be his toughest test yet at Wimbledon this year.

The Italian defeated Djokovic in straight sets in the French Open last month. The Serb will have to iron out the kinks in his game ahead of his semi-final against the World No. 1.

Sinner has won four of his previous five matches against Djokovic to take a 5-4 lead in their head-to-head. However, it is Djokovic who has the edge at SW19, having defeated Sinner in the 2022 quarter-finals and the 2023 semi-finals.

Playing Sinner on grass hands Djokovic the advantage as he has beaten the Italian in both their meetings at this tournament. There is also the concern of how Sinner’s elbow will hold up in the event of a prolonged match despite a strong performance in the quarter-finals against Ben Shelton

Result: Djokovic will win in four sets.
