Tennis players to reach 10,000-point mark in ATP rankings ft. Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic & more

Jannik Sinner has become the latest player to join the exclusive list.
The ATP rankings have always been the deciding factor of multiple things in tennis. The ranks change frequently as the margins are less. Meanwhile, on other occasions, players have managed to garner a strong lead over their opponents.
The ranking system has gone through multiple changes in the past decades. The likes of Lleyton Hewitt (9,890 points), Andy Roddick (9,852) and Carlos Alcaraz (9,815) have narrowly missed the 10,000-mark.
Meanwhile, tennis stars before the 1990s will not feature in the list because of the change in the ranking landscape. With that being said, let’s take a look at the eight tennis players who have breached the 10,000-point mark in the ATP rankings.

8. Andre Agassi: 10,739 points
Eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi spent 101 weeks as the World No. #1. On August 21, 1995, he accumulated a total of 10,739 points after he won the 1994 US Open and the 1995 Australian Open. In addition, he also was the champion at the Paris Masters in 1994.
7. Daniil Medvedev: 10,780 points
In the last few months of 2021, a rivalry between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev was ignited. Both tennis stars were regularly facing each other in different finals.
Interestingly, Daniil Medvedev defeated Djokovic in straight sets to win the 2021 US Open. Later in February 2022, he reached a total of 10,780 points as Novak Djokovic was the leader with 12,133 points.
6. Pete Sampras: 11,005 points
One of the greats of tennis, Pete Sampras accumulated a total of 11,005 points on November 8, 1997. With that, he also became the first player to reach 11,000 points in the ATP rankings.
The former American tennis star was the Australian Open, Wimbledon, Cincinnati Masters and Paris Masters champion at the time.

5. Jannik Sinner: 11,180 points
In June 2024, Jannik Sinner became the first male Italian tennis player to become the World No. 1. Sinner won six titles in the 2024 season and reached the quarterfinals of every single competition he played.
He’s lifted silverware at the Australian Open and US Open, alongside the Miami Open, the Cincinnati Masters, the Halle Open and the Rotterdam Open.
4. Andy Murray: 12,685 points
The part of the ‘Big 4’, Andy Murray won three Grand Slam titles throughout his career. After an unforgettable 2016 season, the Brit became the World No. 1 for the first time on November 7.
In the 2016 season, he won the Wimbledon Championships, the ATP Finals, the Italian Open, the Shanghai Masters and the Paris Masters. Additionally, he finished runner-up at the Australian Open and French Open.
3. Rafael Nadal: 15,390 points
In 2009, Rafael Nadal became only the second tennis player to cross the 15,000 ATP points mark. He garnered a total of 15,390 points on April 20, 2009. The “King of Clay” was the champion of the French Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open at the time.
Additionally, he was holding the title at the Canadian Open, Indian Wells Open, Monte-Carlo Masters, Barcelona Open, German Open and Queen’s Club Championships.
2. Roger Federer: 15,903 points
Swiss maestro Roger Federer was unbothered in the first position in the rankings from February 2, 2004 until August 17, 2008. Continuing his form, he crossed the 15,000-point mark in November 2006. Roger Federer accumulated a total of 15,903 points and became the first player in history to do so.
During that time, he was the champion at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. He ended as a runner-up at the French Open and also won the ATP Finals.
1. Novak Djokovic: 16,950 points
Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic tops the list with a mammoth total of 16,950 points. He achieved the total on June 6, 2016. During that time, he was the champion at all four Grand Slams. He won the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open in 2015.
Additionally, he won the titles at the Australian Open and the French Open in 2016. Interestingly, it was Djokovic’s first Roland-Garros title.
