Top six men's singles players who won Cincinnati Masters & US Open in same year

Only two men’s singles tennis stars have achieved this feat twice.
So far, nine men’s singles tennis stars in the Open Era have managed to win two of the biggest tournaments in the North American swing consecutively in the same season. However, only five of them were able to do this by triumphing at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 and the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open.
Such consistency and longevity to claim the biggest titles in short succession underscore their stunning form, peak fitness, mental toughness, and ability to maintain high performance under intense pressure across multiple hard-court events under challenging conditions.
Men’s singles to win the Cincinnati and US Open in the same year-
Jannik Sinner – 2024

Jannik Sinner became only the sixth man to achieve the rare Cincinnati–US Open double, showcasing his dominance on North American hard courts.
He returned from a sickness and injury to capture the Cincinnati Masters title, overcoming a formidable pool of players, including Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev, before crushing Frances Tiafoe in the finals.
The Italian claimed his maiden US Open title in commanding style, sweeping past Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals, Jack Draper in the semifinals, and Taylor Fritz in the final, dropping just a solitary set on his path to glory.
The triumph sealed his rise to World No. 1 and reinforced his reputation as the ATP Tour’s best hard-court player.
Novak Djokovic – 2018, 2023

Novak Djokovic became the first player to complete the career Golden Masters (winning all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments throughout a career) in singles when he cruised to a straight-sets victory over Roger Federer in the 2018 finals. Serbian tennis star brought up his 14th Slam a month later, overpowering Juan Martín del Potro in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–4), 6–3.
After a heartbreaking Wimbledon summit-clash loss to Carlos Alcaraz, the Serbian made amends by first avenging his loss against the Spaniard in an incredible Cincinnati final, where he lost the first set and saved match points in the second, to win from behind. Djokovic later thrashed Daniil Medvedev in the US Open finals to clinch his 24th Major title.
Rafael Nadal – 2013

Rafael Nadal’s 2013 hard-court sweep saw him win Cincinnati by defeating the legendary Roger Federer in the quarter-finals, Tomas Berdych in the semis, and finally John Isner in two consecutive tiebreaks.
The Spaniard then dominated the US Open without losing a set until the final, where he overpowered Novak Djokovic in four sets, showcasing peak athleticism and versatility, with his supremacy extending to hard courts as well.
Roger Federer – 2005, 2007

Roger Federer achieved the Cincinnati–US Open double in both 2005 and 2007. In 2005, he beat Robby Ginepri and Andy Roddick in Cincinnati, then overcame the challenge of Leyton Hewitt and Andre Agassi in New York.
In 2007, he defeated Hewitt again in the semi-final, before hammering ninth seed James Blake for the Cincinnati title. At the US Open, he dispatched Andy Roddick, Nikolay Davydenko, and Novak Djokovic in straight sets, saving set points in the first two.
Andy Roddick – 2003
In 2003, Andy Roddick completed the incredible trio of triumphing at the Canadian Open, Cincinnati Open, and US Open, establishing himself as a legend of the North American swing. He beat Max Mirnyi in the Cincinnati semifinals and edged Mardy Fish 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(4) in a gritty final.
He then carried his form to the US Open, saving a match point against David Nalbandian in the semifinals before overpowering Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-3 to win his first and only Grand Slam, despite reaching four finals later, to cap a career-defining summer.
Pat Rafter – 1998
Pat Rafter became the first player to complete the double since the ATP Masters were introduced. The Australian stunned reigning champion Pete Sampras, after dropping the opening set and surviving a narrow escape in the second set tiebreaker.
Seeded third at the US Open that year, Rafter overcame Karol Kučera in the quarters, Pete Sampras yet again in a nerve-wracking five-setter, and went on to claim his second and final major title by defeating Mark Philippoussis in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–2, 6–0.
