The Miami Open 2024 has reached its final stages. Apart from the singles matches, the most anticipated contest is the men’s doubles finale, where the top-seeded pair of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden will face the second-seeded duo of Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek.

After battling hard to secure a place in the semifinals, Bopanna and Ebden triumphed over their opponents, the fourth-seeded team of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos, in straight sets with scores of 6-1, 6-4. This victory propeled them into the final clash at the tournament.

In the earlier rounds, Bopanna and Ebden defeated Andrea Vavassori and Simone Boleii (4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-4) in the Round of 32, followed by a hard-fought win against Jan Zielinski and Hugo Nys (7-5, 7-6 (3)) in the Round of 16, and a challenging match against Sem Verbeek and John Patrick Smith (3-6, 7-6, 10-7) in the quarterfinals.

On the other side, Dodig and Krajicek have displayed dominant form throughout the tournament. They began their campaign with a victory against Yuki Bhambri and Michael Venus (7-6, 6-4) in the Round of 32, followed by a convincing win over Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson (6-3, 6-2) in the Round of 16.

In the quarterfinals, they outplayed Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Marcelo Melo (7-6, 7-6), setting the stage for a thrilling semifinal showdown against the seventh-seeded pair of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz. After a hard-fought battle, Dodig and Krajicek emerged victorious, securing their spot in the finals of the Miami Open 2024 with a final scoreline of 6-4, 6-7, 10-7.

Rohan Bopanna/Matt Ebden vs Iva Dodig/Austin Krajicek Preview

After a series of underwhelming performances after the Australian Open 2024, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden have finally made it to their second final of the year.

The duo started with a bang, clinching their first-ever grand slam together with a victory in Melbourne. But the duo has a rough follow-up after that. Since then, they have suffered a loss in the quarterfinals at the Dubai Tennis Championships and a loss in the Round of 32 at the Indian Wells Masters.

On the other hand, their opponents Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek have experienced just the opposite of fate. After a second-round exit at the Australian Open, they entered the semifinals of ATP Rotterdam, where they were defeated by the pair of Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic.

Their performance excelled to heights at the Dubai Tennis Championships, where they grabbed the runners-up spot, their first of the year, followed by a quarterfinal finish at the Indian Wells Masters.

Head-to-head Records

Matches: 1

Rohan Bopanna/Matthew Ebden: 0

Ivan Dodig/Austin Krajicek: 1

This is going to be their second clash on the court. In the first and only match between them, Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek defeated Bopanna and Ebden in three sets at the final of ATP Rotterdam 2023 to clinch the title.

Prediction

Comparing the first and second-seeded pairs of the tournament is never an easy task. There are always minute differences that keep them at two different positions—one ahead and one behind.

Regarding Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden, although they performed well at the Miami Open, they suffered an early exit at their previous hard-court tournament, the Indian Wells Masters. With a 76% win record this year, they will surely look to improve their stats and end their title drought by emerging as winners in the upcoming final.

Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek, on the other hand, have played 17 matches this year and have won 13 of them, while facing defeat in four matches. They are yet to secure any title in the last five months. Their last title came at the China Open in 2023.

Result: Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden to win the match in three sets.
